Halo 5 Information Brings Questionable Features

I’m a long time halo fan and I’ve been with the series since Halo CE. I have some personal opinions about the features being introduced into Halo 5 that just seem strange for a halo title.

1 - The ADS: I don’t have that much of a problem with this but I prefer Halo’s interface scoping style than a typical FPS ADS system.
2 - Commanding your squad in campaign: How come we need this exactly? Halo Reach and ODST featured a squad you fought along-side with and this wasn’t necessary to make the game play fun. But hey, we will see how this turns out.
3 - Reviving fallen team members: Well this just seems to be one of the farthest things from the classic Halo experience I’ve ever seen.
4 - Showing where power weapons are in arena: What ever happened to learning the map’s weapon spawns?
5 - The spartan abilities: This is mixed in my opinion. Seems to be a slight knock-off of the COD EXO suit. Thankfully you don’t necessarily need to use this but I just feel that these could have been separate abilities you picked up like in previous halo games.
6 - The UNSC rocket launcher: I never got to play the Halo 5 beta the last week or so due to internet complications but from what I understand the rocket launcher looks like a boring launcher from our modern age.
7 - No firefight or spartan ops: This seems to be a grave mistake in my opinion and is shared by so many others. I didn’t like spartan ops that much but I felt that it sill should have been brought back because I know others enjoyed this game mode certainly more than I did. Firefight was halo’s version of the classic wave defense and was very enjoyable in ODST and Reach with the customization available with the waves. I always liked to make my self nearly invincible and fighting the hardest waves I could possibly create with all skulls on.
8 - No indication of a Falcon or Hornet or other UNSC air vehicle (please correct me if I’m wrong): I would hope the UNSC gets an air vehicle. Halo 4’s introduction of the mantis was alright but not enough.
9 - Warzone: They seem to be using this game mode as an excuse for the missing features of other halo games. Although it looks interesting, I still wish we could at LEAST make our own forge maps or custom games with this like we could do with invasion.
10 - No split screen campaign: This is possible one of the most enraging things I’ve heard so far. This is the main reason I played halo is to enjoy playing with friends split screen. Frankly, not everyone will want to fork over hundreds of dollars for another Xbox One. Graphics limit this feature according to some, but graphics isn’t everything…
11 - This probably isn’t too justified but I feel the promethean soldier enemy is just cheesy.
** I would have to test with Halo 5 to make sure but I do NOT want to see that bullet magnetism crap in Halo 4.

I’ve probably left out some things but this is all my opinion and I’m not saying that these things aren’t horrible but some obviously are. I’m interested to see if anyone else agrees or has anything else to share about this?

I am glad somebody pointed out all the positive things in the game. Sarcasm may be intended.

I’m not trying to say Halo 5 is a bad game and here are some positives like the classic arena style multiplayer and balanced starting weapons and such but I just felt that I might share what I thought was sort of strange to see in halo.

> Don’t care. I’m slightly worse with this change, but overall I’ll get used to it
> 2 - Commanding your squad in campaign: How come we need this exactly? Halo Reach and ODST featured a squad you fought along-side with and this wasn’t necessary to make the game play fun. But hey, we will see how this turns out.
> this is probably the thing that set me over the top with halo 5 hype. I always ALWAYS ALWAYS wanted fred kelly and Linda in a proper halo game. and they’re here, they’re finally freaking here. THIS IS NECESSARY. I’m tired of Master chief clone as my partner.
> 3 - Reviving fallen team members: Well this just seems to be one of the farthest things from the classic Halo experience I’ve ever seen.
> “Classic halo experience.” I am tired of the “classic halo experience.” We got the “Classic halo experience” updated in H1A and H2A. get your “Classic Halo Experience” from the CLASSIC HALO GAMES.
> 4 - Showing where power weapons are in arena: What ever happened to learning the map’s weapon spawns?
> When the Halo community opted to allow Halo to fall by the wayside and let Battlefield, COD, and other games dominate for 10 years. Conform or die. Also let’s not shaft new comers.
> 5 - The spartan abilities: This is mixed in my opinion. Seems to be a slight knock-off of the COD EXO suit. Thankfully you don’t necessarily need to use this but I just feel that these could have been separate abilities you picked up like in previous halo games.
> Spartan Abilities are something that has been prevelant in the Halo lore for a LONG time, and I’m glad the spartans no longer control like the generic Doom guy from the first Doom game. This is a future super soldier with super tech. This isn’t a COD knock off. And logically thinking, the future tech of the military isn’t exactly going to be devolving. so COD and Halo will eventually run into strong similarities.
> 6 - The UNSC rocket launcher: I never got to play the Halo 5 beta the last week or so due to internet complications but from what I understand the rocket launcher looks like a boring launcher from our modern age.
> From what I’ve seen. Don’t know. From what the rocket launcher used to look like. Meh. old one was just a tube with a box on it.

> Community’s fault. You don’t play a game mode, then it wont get put back. We get Warzone now, which looks way more fun. You’re allowed your opinion. But since we’re sharing opinions here. Big fat MEH to firefight and Spartan OPS
> 8 - No indication of a Falcon or Hornet or other UNSC air vehicle (please correct me if I’m wrong): I would hope the UNSC gets an air vehicle. Halo 4’s introduction of the mantis was alright but not enough.
> I actually like UNSC stuff just because it’s unsc despite the fact I didn’t like the Hornet, or the Falcon at all. But I don’t know lore wise what’s going on there or gamewise. I think Pelican in warzone would be my ultimate unsc wet dream.
> 9 - Warzone: They seem to be using this game mode as an excuse for the missing features of other halo games. Although it looks interesting, I still wish we could at LEAST make our own forge maps or custom games with this like we could do with invasion.
> **Dying part of community is dying. you guys gotta put up or it doesn’t get done. Microsoft runs the numbers, they check the data. I want forge everything, but if no one is forging. so be it.**10 - No split screen campaign: This is possible one of the most enraging things I’ve heard so far. > **I prefer them, I’m hoping they have the old prometheans back too, mainly because i felt not having enough promethan types made the game stale. And I got super bored with the campaign mostly because of the enemies. But after replaying Halo 1 2 and 3. I’m not so sure if that was Halo 4’s issue, because Halo 1 2 and 3 made me bored too.**I’ve probably left out some things but this is all my opinion and I’m not saying that these things aren’t horrible but some obviously are. Halo 5 is by and large plays better than most Halo games in the series with the exception of maybe Halo 2. I can approach it with an open mind.

Those are some valid points. The fact that COD and Halo would run into similarities is true. And driving a pelican in forge would make me cry tears of joy for 4 days straight. The promethean enemy types in Halo 4 did seems stale but should still come back. I think they would have been alright if there were more types and added variety. The covenant was full of variety with all the different alien species and sub-types.

People on this forum always assume Halo 5 is perfect. It’s honestly pathetic. Every time you see a “add firefight” or “add elites” post, a bunch of fanboys gang up on the OP. Just relax, why are you against good features ? You make no sense. At all…

I’m less enthused about h5 now but I’m still optimistic it will hold my attention for quite a long time.

> Seems to be a slight knock-off of the COD EXO suit.

How? How do people think this? The Spartan abilities are just an extension of what we had in Halo 4, specifically the thruster ability, not to mention that they didn’t toss in the Spartan moves last fall right after Advanced Warfare came out. It is so obvious that Halo 5 was always going to include this feature long before Advanced Warfare came out.
