Halo 5 Hunters bit too OP?

So in the second campaign mission in the game you meet some hunters and one of your team mates says that ‘hunters are slow’

Well, they definitely are not slow.

It is ok if their smash attack and fuel cannon is a 1 hit kill especially when playing on legendary but when they hit it is like x5 faster than in any other Halo making it impossible to dodge, even with the new thruster equipment which I am sure 343i indented to be used with them.

NOTE: I do not mind them being like a boss fight, but the speed of their melee is what I think is what makes the issue!

Well, at least in The Fall of Reach, the Hunters were literally these massive terrifying monstrosities. And Halo 5 is the first time I feel like the Hunters are exactly what they’re supposed to be, giant terrifying living tanks. So I love the way they are in H5 and I don’t actually think they’re OP.

I like the challenge. Makes you strategize abit instead of running in like a CoD game and rolling them.

I like that they are very challenging as well… and I get to think about that as I wait for my respawn.

I don’t mind that they are difficult, and they also were massive in Halo Legends. But the hit speed is probably just too quick, if it was halved in speed ( keep the damage same )
They’d be hunters that you do not wanna let touch you, but you can use shotguns and thrusters and do not need rocket launchers or Spartan lasers.

Yh, I always felt like the idea of a Hunter was more powerful. They seems to have got it right this time I think. Especially since Halo one where you could just circle then and punch them in back continuously xD

They are challenging to say the least

For a coop story its a good feel but they are defs bullet sponges solo

You only needed 1 pistol shot too. xD

They are exactly how they should be IMO

I like the fact that they are harder to defeat now it makes for a more fun experience when facing them cause theyre supposed to be hard to beat if they wanted easier enemies they would have just put grunts there!

I only have problems with solo. Obviously they set them up to be fought in Co-op, or with good A.I. But sadly the A.I. Sucks.

The game promotes the idea of your team distracting them while you get behind and get a good shot. They go down quickly when it works, but the AI is dumb, and they only go after you.

So while it sucks, it was clearly made to keep co-op players at bay.

Agree 100%. Hunters should be feared and needed this boost. Kudos 343.

Heck no!
These hunters are perfect. Honestly hunters always felt pretty simple to defeat in the past. The way they are introduced and to live up to their reputation from the lore on legendary felt so right.

Absolute monsters, bullet sponges that make sure you know when you made a mistake lol.

I think they are about right in terms of difficulty. I also enjoy the challenge of other enemies appearing with them. It does make it quite a bit more challenging when you’re getting shot at and can’t always hide behind cover unless you deal with the other enemies first. If i remember from most of the other halos, most of the time they came in pairs and that’s it (minus a few instances like in h2 with the drones).

I do think they are a little OP on Legendary Solo as the teammate AI group up all the time making one hunter shot end a team instantly. Coupled with the half-second charge time and the extreme radius on the shot explosion made for infuriating play that required luck to get by. I do feel they’re melee arc is too wide as well. All these elements make the new thrusters feel a little useless which I imagine is the opposite of what they intended when tweaking Hunters to make them fun to fight with the new Spartan Abilities.

I think, if they make the weapon charge around 2 seconds, reduce the explosion radius to around 75% and reduce the size of the collider for the Hunter’s melee attack. I think this will help make the Hunter’s less overpowered. Everything else about them is brilliant, they have a high level of health and they are extremely strong which has always been the case in Halo. I even love that they switch to automatic fire to attack more efficiently. I just don’t want what happened to me on Mission 2 Legendary Solo to happen again where I would leave the elevator and would be instantly sniped with an explosive shot with the rest of the team, instant game over.

Other than this, the rest of the game that I have played 343 (Missions 1-6 and a game on Arena on a friend’s account) is absolutely phenomonal and has made the wait, hype and build up all the more worth it.

I just beat those two exact Hunters last night on solo Legendary. I think their strength and speed is appropriate. Getting up close to them usually isn’t the best strategy to killing them. I usually will wait till the Hunters are focused on the AI’s then I go behind it and shoot.

Agreed! Hunters were too easy in ce with one pistol shot lol

Hunters are supposed to be borderline terrifying and I think they are right where they are supposed to be.

i killed both within 5 minutes on legendary not op at all
