Halo 5 high hopes

Now that Halo 4 is “over”(based on the end of spartan ops and dlcs released) and assuming 343 is already hard at work on Halo 5, let’s see some ideas and suggestions for Halo 5, in the light of 343’s take on Halo.
I’m not aware if such a thread already exists ( it must be, but the threads get buried at such a speed…)but anyway please see this as a mere wishlist.
I will not talk of the story, as 343 seems to know its business, and I will not insist too much on multi, as so much has been said here about it.(ranked playlists and other career perks)
Here goes:
Please, Santa, in Halo 5…

  • More emphasis on vehicles(and new ones)or large hardware
After all, vehicles and spaceships are one of the better Halo arguments compared to other FPS games.Oh, and aerial dogfights would be so awesome…

  • A firefight mode.
No, there’s nothing wrong with Spartan Ops, it would just be nice to have a choice.

-Customizable and modular weapons
To have custom armors is a great thing, to have custom weapons would be the best. Beside, a DMR of the future with no grenade launcher attachement? Strange.Carbines today can do that.

-Class-based Spartans?
Reach had a glimpse of the idea: Heavy weapons spartans, infiltration spartans…might be a classic but it always works well.
Or at least give some substance to the current specialisations.

-Halo theme?
I find the Halo 4 music inspiring and beautiful, but what happened to the main Halo theme? Is there a copyright problem with Marty O’Donell? 'Cause a Halo without the main theme is like a Bond movie without the Bond theme…

These “wishes” are mainly based on elements already present in one way or another in the Halo series, so I hope at least one of them will be considered…

Any ideas?

I want Halo 5 to be an actual Halo game. Or just something unique full of it’s own ideas and mechanics. Not a COD clone.

That’s a basic. Let’s hope they stick to the Halo style, trying to lure in COD players never works (Battlefield 3 tried that, failed)

Off topic but it’s not over quite yet. Castle DLC still has to come out.

Customizable weapons would put the nail in the coffin for competitive play. Perhaps weapons with customizations built into them (such as a BR with a grenade launcher but nerfed damage as a starter weapon, or the ODST SMG). This way they are more balanced and strict, and can be disabled via forced loadouts. But allowing you to mix and match attachments, no.

Loadouts need balanced, perks need to be removed.

16v16 Big Team, make it happen.

I was not implying Halo 4 is over and done, or that it was awful.
Simply sharing things I missed and would like to see in the next iteration

And I didn’t know about the next DLC.:stuck_out_tongue:

Other FPS games seem to integrate weapon customization just fine; there must be a way…

Put in a Battlefield-esque playlist & I’ll accept the class based Spartans. I’d even enjoy it. Battlefield in space in just one playlist in Halo 5 sounds pretty good to me.

Customizable weapons is a definite no for me. I wouldn’t even bother with the game if this makes it in.

Tactical packages & Support upgrades have to go. They’re stupid & a clear CoD influence. A bad one to be specific.

We need AAs that are all useful & not overpowered. I think Ramir3z had an idea for this.

Since 343 want to keep their version of Halo the Infinity playlists should be in a separate section. Like social or something.

Halo theme ftw!

I did but looking back I think some of them would be imbalanced. I’ll go back and revise them.

Well, at least indeed more weapons with a secondary fire option.

My concern though is what button would you map the secondary fire to?

Halo Custom Edition had a BR with a grenade launcher, but it used one of the grenade slots.

I suppose you could use the directional pad, but that would be sooo unoriginal.

Then again there are only so many buttons you could map on a controller…
Unless the future 720 controller…has more possibilities.
