Why does everyone hate halo 5 I don’t think it is a horrible game even the campaign is that bad I’m generally confused
Idk I guess the campaign wasn’t the best but I see more hate on 343.
i feel sorry for 343 a bunch of people hate them just for buying halo from bungie. I’m sorry 343 on behalf of all halo fans for all the hate you receive.
I don’t understand why people hate them so much either… I feel pretty bad for them, they’re trying to make the game better, but people hate them even more…
I MEAN C’MON PEOPLE SOMETIMES COMPANIES MAKE MISTAKES… NO REASON TO HATE THEM!!!
Hopefully nobody hates them for halo 6…
The Campaign is definitely that bad. One out of the two main characters have nothing to do with the main villain, the main villain is a manipulative, hypocritical -Yoink!- that pretty much got by with emotional abuse, the statements said in previous games are ignored or contradicted, the Covenant isn’t dead despite the Campaign saying it like 50 times, and Jul Mdama was replaced by a nobody outside of the game, further proving that the Covenant isn’t dead.

You don’t speak “on behalf” of anyone but yourself. Maybe they have a legitimate reason to not like 343i.
They also didn’t “buy Halo from Bungie”, Microsoft owned Halo because they owned Bungie. When Bungie left, Microsoft kept the IP. 343i is simply a subsection of Microsoft that works on Halo.
I don’t hate halo 5, i disagree with halo 5. I am not a fan of what the halo games are becoming. And while reach and 4 had only fragments of this halo 5 takes the cake. It tries to be halo 3 but at the same time it tries to be a bunch of other fps games, and it does not work. Halo 5 can be fun, and if we are talking about in general then halo 5 is a decent game. But as a halo game it ultimately fails, it doesn’t feel like halo in the slightest. To me it doesn’t feel like it’s even trying to be halo. Even though it is widely hated halo 4 tried to be halo, and it shows. Halo 4 just wasn’t very good at balancing the maps with the abilities. But i still have more fun playing halo 4 than halo 5, because it feels like halo. And before you say I’m hooked on nostalgia and halo needs to evolve. First of all i started at reach, so nostalgia has nothing to do with it. And your somewhat right, halo should evolve. But halo 5 isn’t the result of halo evolving, it’s the result of changing it because they can change it. We don’t need spartan abilities, but since they are here there are people that like it so we can’t get rid of them and that is not a good thing. And maybe i could excuse this if the game was visually appealing but it’s not. The halo 5 beta is one of the best looking video games of all time, but halo 5 takes 10 steps backwards and ruins the beautiful graphics. So to be more specific halo 5 as a game isn’t bad, halo 5 as a halo game is bad.
If we’re talking about campaign then I’m sorry but it’s so bad, it really shouldn’t exist.
I love Halo 5’s multiplayer but I really dislike the campaign. I was loving the campaign after the first two missions but after that I started to realize that it wasn’t that great.

Ok I’m sorry I was misinformed. But honestly I’m not sure why some people are saying that 343 ruined halo. It didn’t ruin it, it just got halo dumped on them and didn’t know what to do with it! That’s why halo might not be continuing after halo 6, because 343 doesn’t have ideas.
“Hate the current game, like the previous game” halo fan base philosophy since 2004 and hasn’t changed.
Edit: if you like the game, then awesome!

Like Doctor who.
Idk I think it gets way too hate than it deserves. Some just got overhyped and we’re let down.
I don’t hate Halo 5 it’s just not a that great of a game. I give feedback were I can and hope 343 improves Halo 6.
Except the campaign. I hate the campaign and I really mean I hate it, it is so bleeping bad. It is by far the worst campaign for any video game I have played.

I really like spartan abilities, not having sprint, etc. is just so… boring. Halo 3 games to me feel boring and restricted, and I could go on. Basically, spartan abilities should stay IMO, they make the game better.
Halo 5 is a great game with mostly minor flaws that people unfortunately seem to focus on rather than the positives.
The campaign was fun to play, an interesting route to take the story, with plenty of story elements that should build intrigue for Halo 6.
The MP has kept me invested in this series more than any of the previous titles before it, and I’ve plenty every entry in the series religiously on release. CE was middle school / high school for me, 2 was high school, 3 was college, same with Reach, 4 was the tail-end of college, 5 has been in my adulthood. I have more time vested in this series than I care to think about through the years!
5 has brought with it new friends, an awesome community, and because of it, I’ve basically missed every other game that’s been released the last two years, with no signs of stopping soon (assuming the rest of the player population remains). It’s THAT good compared to the rest of what’s on the market.
The hate Halo 5 gets is ridiculous. It’s not a perfect game - but it’s pretty dang close. Especially when you throw in how much free DLC we’ve received the past couple of years. We’re beyond spoiled with what we’ve gotten in this game, relative to other companies charging $20 - $60 a pop for DLC releases (Destiny anyone?). I wish the community as a whole would focus on the positives rather than the negatives, because one far outshines the other.
For more proof of that… you’re still here, aren’t you?

Exactly my point, there are people like you so now halo can’t go back to its old roots.
I grew up with fast games and i still prefer the older titles. Halo 3 was a damn near perfect game even though i didn’t play it during its prime i can still see its greatness. If you don’t like 3 then play reach, it is a faster game but it still has the halo elements.

The Campaign was fun to play, but gameplay only takes you so far in story mode.
The story is cliche as all Yoink. I can (and already have) make an entire list out of its problems. They aren’t very “minor”.
Considering how barebones Halo 5 started, I would hope things would get added for free. It took us months to get to what Day One should have been. That’s not being spoiled, that’s being frustrated with the release.
And that’s not considering the other (sometimes nonsensical) design decisions that 343i has made. They don’t even have a reason to include Sprint, they just put it in because it’s popular to have and other games have it.

True about the story remark… for me personally, gameplay is prioritized over story, which is why I’m willing to look past some of the narrative shortcomings of the game. I realize not everyone is like that though. The story made sense to me for the most part, added some interesting lore to the Halo universe (in particular, the Guardians, the battle for Sanghelios, Genesis, the Warden, and fireteam Osiris, which gave us Vale, if nothing else!), while also finally bringing characters I’d loved from the original books into the fray (Kelly, Fred and Linda). Honestly, I feel the vast majority of complaints I’ve heard about Halo 5’s story could easily be rectified with DLC. Release a three level “prequel” to the events of Halo 5 wherein you bridge the gap from 4 to 5, reuniting Chief with Blue Team, giving them a proper introduction to the series, and solving the problem most players had with the lack of playing as Chief in the game’s campaign. The story, as it’s told, has problems for sure, but I loved the “Empire Strikes Back” feel to it all when you end the game with our heroes’ backs against the wall, together, but basically facing an unstoppable threat in the galaxy’s AI, Cortana, the Forerunners, and the Halo rings she now has control of… I think it has the potential to be a fascinating setup for an epic campaign in Halo 6. I just hope they deliver on that!
I would be interested to hear your complaints with the story though, just out of curiosity. Would you mind sharing?
Fair enough about Halo 5’s release. It certainly had far less on release than past Halo titles, and many of the updates (to your point) seemed they should have been included in the base game, like past Halo releases. What I mean by spoiled is that if you think about it… you have been required to spend, at most, $60 on this game. $20 now I believe. Outside of that, you’ve not needed to pay 343 a dime for any of the additional content (be it new weapons, vehicles, maps, game modes, skins, etc.). Doing the math on that… I’ve got about 32 days worth of game time I believe at this point invested in Halo 5, or 768 hours. $60 / 768 hours means I’ve paid about 8 cents for every hour of this game I’ve enjoyed. That’s an absurd return on my investment. Talk about a value buy! I could spend $20 on a new movie, watch it twice, and by comparison have 3 hours of enjoyment for my $20, instead of 256 hours for that same $20. So when I hear a ton of complaints about Halo 5, some of them I understand, others, I question, because most of the guys still playing have even more playtime than me invested into the game… so do they really hate it as much as they claim to?
Regarding sprint and other additions to the gameplay… it doesn’t bother me, personally. But again, that comes down to personal preference. I feel if they basically did the same exact game every year, the formula would get stale, even with new maps. All of the Halo games have been innovative of the original Halo formula. Halo 2 introduced dual-wielding, new vehicles, etc. 3 (I forget what they were called), but bubble shields, portable lifts, that sort of thing. Reach, the Hornet (and I’m sure other things). 4, loadouts. So 5 is really just par for the course - introducing elements like sprint, clamber, ground pounds, etc. I’m good with it - but I know a number of people aren’t. So for me, I just want to see them release Halo 6 in a state where the vast majority of fans are happy - because I’d like to keep playing it long after release!
Why do people hate Halo 5? I understand there is some new things that people may not particularly like, like the REQ packs, but the campaign is extremely good, and the multiplayer games are extremely fun! So, if you could give me ore reasons to understand this, then please do so.

I don’t how new you are but there have mega post on why people dislike/hate the campaign. I could go into detail but I am busy right now so I would have to do it later.
Same with multiplayer. There is whole thread that has over 10000 comments talking about sprint.

I agree the Spartan abilities are fine

That’s ridiculous.
