Halo 5 Has Terrible Spawns

Perhaps the worst thing about Halo 5 (at least imo) are the dreadful spawnpoints. Half the time I don’t even get a chance to get a few steps after I spawn! Heck, I’ve even spawned on the very edge of the map in Warzone once. As a result I fell to my death and lost my REQ energy. You better clean this up for Halo 6, 343.

I once spawned in on a grenade… I think that enough summarises the spawn system.

I spawned off a ledge muilt times in a row on that new war zone map… I have spawned with a prophets bane weapon in front of other teams ghost… on top of teammates nad. Poor guy/gal got a betrayal. I can go on for awhile. Heck I even took warden ent. Instance kill to the face spawn in front of spire…

I find that BTB spawns are the worst. The simple fact that they flip between the two sides of maps is enough to warrant a huge change in the system/spawn points. BTB slayer or strongholds is near impossible because of this.

From what I’ve been through, you have three types of spawns:

Right behind some enemies.
Right in front of some enemies.
Across the map away from everyone.

They truly are terrible.

Arena spawnpoints are great in my experience. Warzone…ehh. It’s a different beast. They’re fine for what it needs to accomplish. BTB…ick. Death to dynamic spawns.

I did a BTB Strongholds game for the first time last night with my wife and this was truly awful. It seemed completely random, and when I would orient (taking only a fraction of a second more than spawning in something like Warzone), I was sniped down.

I have spawned on a cliff in Stormbreak, instantly falling to my death, and it gives random people nearby kills for it. WTF is that about?

Once, I spawned inside a kill volume on top of a building in ARC, and had NO CLUE where I was at (between Red Base and East Armory, I discovered). I barely made it off the roof before the game killed me.

The following are the worst instances where I spawned at the wrong time and moment:

  1. Spawned at the edge of the map in Warzone and fell to my doom, losing all of my REQ energy.

  2. Spawned LITERALLY right in the front of a Ghost and got splattered. Lost my REQ energy there too.

  3. Spawned right next to the Wraith Officer, immediately got exploded to smithereens.

  4. An enemy Spartan spawned RIGHT NEXT to my Scorpion and boarded it. Seconds later, my tank was toast.

  5. Spawned in the middle of crossfire.

  6. Spawned in the Core in Warzone but it was somewhere in the ceiling. Seriously, the whole game was spazzing out.

Halo 5 in a nutshell.

Give me a day or two. I have 50 different clips of me being spawn-killed throughout Halo 5, or being killed within 30 seconds of me spawning a Warzone Power Weapon.

Awesome spawn.

Once in BTB, actually the first match in Halo 5 I played, my initial spawn was behind the enemy. So I was just outside of their base stealing their camo.

You mean 1337 sweg MLG pro spawn? Because that definitely was one.

I agree but then again ODSTs drop straight into battle.

I multiple times get spawned in front of the enemy’s faces and get jumped lol

Ignoring the fact that my gungoose got wedged in the map causing my death, here’s another example of a brilliant spawn courtesy of 343i:

Respawn with Overshield REQ

Indeed… Of the MANY issues… This is a major one.

Protip for spawning with Legendary REQs: spawn at your home base and not at a captured base.

Yep, that’s how you don’t lose them.

I miss sensical, static spawns from Halo 1-3, where if you got spawnkilled, it was only because the enemy team was way better than you and they pushed you all the way back to your base, not because randomness.
