> Nine months after release, Halo 5: Guardians continues to grow its playerbase and topple franchise records.
Do those records include least amount of copies sold or least amount of content at launch?
> the Xbox One shooter had the highest number of monthly active players for a Halo game since 2007’s Halo 3.
Congratulation on having less people playing than Halo 3 does, but more than Reach since zero people are playing according to the population counter*.
> More impressive, this was achieved before Halo 5’s week-long promotion where it was free.
Vague statement is vague.
Does this mean day 1? December? June?
Once again, no statement as to where in Halo 3’s life and “halo” 5’s life are being compared.
> Speaking about the number of Halo 5 players who joined during the free period (June 29-July 6), Brav didn’t share a specific number, but said “you’d be pleasantly surprised.”
Some took public speaking lessons/cues from Donald Trump.
“I’m not going to tell you anything, but believe me anyway. I will tell you more later”
> One standout statistic is that Halo 5’s playerbase has actually grown in recent months. For example, June’s player figures are higher than May’s. “As you can imagine, this is pretty darn exciting to see,” he said.
Hey everyone: my wealth just increased by 500% last week!
That might sound impressive unless I disclose I only had one dollar before finding a five dollar bill on the ground. Give some solid number and let us be the judge if it is actually impressive.
> Brav did not share any specific numbers about anything because he said he’d “have to get approval from the powers that be.”
Eh, WHAT?!? Did we need to ask for permission each time we looked at the population counters in Halo 3, Reach, or “halo” 4? Someone look at the population counter. Oh wait…
> One element that might have contributed to Halo 5’s enduring success is 343’s free DLC campaign.
Because no one would have paid for them otherwise. Also it isn’t something to be proud of when much of it was intentional held back.
> Instead of selling extra maps, as it did with Halo 4 and Halo 3, the developer gave away all extra content. 343 released eight free expansions
And completely forget Halo: Reach existed…
The “extra content” is sub par next to Halo 3’s extra maps. Is is tough to call reskined armor, weapons with slightly different attributes, or map remixes “extra content” based on how much less effort is involved.
> June’s Warzone Firefight, which is believed to be the game’s final free add-on.
Better hope this is wrong, otherwise expect no more missing gametypes, or have them behind a paywall.
> The next major Halo game is 2017’s Halo Wars 2.

No way I am playing this game day 1 based on the track record of the games released that have 343i’s name anywhere on it.
