First of all my native language is not English but i will try my best to explain why Halo 5 has lost a lot of value for me.
My problem is the new Team Arena playlist which only features 14 map-mode combinations. All maps we got through updates, except Stasis, are not part of this new playlist. Can somebody please tell me, how to play Assault, CTF or Strongholds on those Maps if there is no playlist wehere they are included? And please don’t tell me i could play customs. The only mode I can play on more than 4 Maps is Slayer and Assault isn’t playable anymore. For me this is a huge letdown and i never asked for such a HCS playlist. Why couldn’t they just release a new HCS playlist if so many people asked for this? Or why can’t they just add a new playlist (social or ranked) where we can play everything this games offers? Why can’t they support all sorts of players and not just Pros?
I really like Halo 5 (my favorite Halo in multiplayer) but this is the first time i really hate something about this game. I feel like they don’t want me to play Halo 5 because I’m not interested in this ESports thing. Please add a way to play the full content of this game. Maybe a playlist with CTF, Strongholds and Assault on all Maps. It could be kind of a Team Objective playlist, because Slayer already has its own playlist.
Think some of the games you are looking for are in rotation in Team Arena, if not all of them. CTF probably could be also found in rotation in BTB. They have everything bunched up and in rotation, which is my main problem, I can’t just jump into a game mode.
Yeah BTB features CTF and Strongholds, but BTB is not Arena (It’s still fun though). And Team Arena is what I’m talking about. They changed the playlist and now it features:
Slayer
- Truth
- The Rig
- Coliseum
- Regret
- Eden
- Plaza
CTF - Fathom
- Coliseum
- Stasis
- Truth
Strongholds - The Rig
- Eden
- Empire
- Plaza
There is no Overgrowth, no Riptide, no Torque, no Tyrant, no Pegasus. And as you see there are only 4 Maps with CTF and 4 Maps with Strongholds from a total of I think 14 Maps. And Assault is missing completely.

Really? I think it gains value as the months go by. My favorite part is the brilliant community made maps in BTB, Infection, and grifball which give them so much variety I could play them for hours.
Imo more community maps should be in more playlist. Of course well tested by pros to make sure it doesn’t destroy any balance
I’d rather have a playlist for each game type searching for games that are 4v4 to 8v8 of that exact game mode I want to play.
To me this is the worst halo ever with so much removed even the thruster pack was better in halo 4

I’m not talking about monthly Updates. Those are great and make Halo 5 better every month. And i also love BTB. Infection and Grifball on the other hand are modes i can’t play for a long time.
What I’m talking about is just the Team Arena playlist. It is now the official HCS Summer Season playlist and no longer features Assault or maps we got with free updates. So there is no way to play for example Assault on Tyrant or CTF on Torque.
And yes, Overgrowth is not the best map imo, but from time to time i like playing Strongholds on Overgrowth.

I would prefer this to. Sometimes i just want to play CTF but then i have to search BTB or Team Arena (and Team Arena now offers only 4 Maps for CTF). Same with Strongholds and Assault.
But we would need a really big playerbase for this. Even with the Playlists we have now its sometimes difficult for me to find matches (I’m from Germany).

Couldn’t agree with you more. 343i has this insane desire to control the number of playlists we have and I have no clue why. We had such a variety in the MCC despite its complete failure, and even in halo 4 - complete with population numbers and all. I like playing as competitive as I can but I agree I really enjoy assault, and tyrant as a map in general. There should be a HCS playlist that’s SEPARATE from a team objective playlist, so we can actually play the games we want. You’re exactly right, getting a custom game for assault is not a satisfactory replacement for playing online, nor is it easy to do so. 343 needs to take a look back at the one thing they got right with the POS that was h4, have a nice selection of playlists AND game type variants within those playlists. In the uk I wasn’t having an issue with finding a game but now that we can customise search preferences it’s become harder to find a game.
