As we already know halo 5 has a huge lack of content with gamemodes like KOTH, Oddball, Juggeranut, Headhunters and VIP all absent from matchmaking. But what if I were to tell you that halo 5 is missing a lot more than just those gamemodes. In halo 5 we have the following “gamemodes” :
-
Slayer - CTF - Strongholds - Assualt (added post launch) - FFA - Swat - Breakout - Doubles (added post launch) - Infection (added post launch) - Grifball (added post launch) - BTB (added post launch) - Warzone - Warzone Assault - Warzone Firefight (added post launch)In halo 5 they call slayer a full gamemode. This is wrong. The “gamemodes” in halo 5 are actually gametypes branded as gamemodes. Gametypes are variants of existing gamemodes, so for example :
-
Halo 5s slayer is Team Slayer a variant of the gamemode : Slayer. Other slayer variants include snipers and swords. - Halo 5s CTF is Multi flag, a variant of capture the flag. Other CTF variants include nuetral flag and tank flag. - Halo 5’s infection is Alpha Zombies, a variant of infection. - Halo 5’s assault is nuetral bomb, a variant of assault.Halo 5 is missing SO much content that were in previous halo games that it just comes to show how lazy 343 Industries are as a developer.
“Stop comparing Halo 5 to older Halo games! The game we want to defend looks bad!”
Halo 5 has more modes than that. It had oddball, and the other ball game introduced in Halo 4. Multi-team was a weekend playlist and you can still play in customs. You are also forgetting Team Action Sack and Fiesta. You can also create other modes like Team Sniper in customs.
You also can’t purely compare gametypes and say “Halo 5 has no content”. Does it have all gametypes? No but to be fair it also created a few new gametypes. Would I be happy for gametypes like racing? Yes.
You can’t compare one aspect of the game and say it has no content. If we compared Halo 5’s Forge to previous games, Halo 5’s Forge content is easily the biggest and the best.
I miss a lot of these gametypes- VIP + KOTH being the frontrunners, but I don’t feel like Halo 5 is lacking in content. It has enough features to justify the $60 launch price. Especially to justify the $8 RedBox price.
I imagine the lack of gametypes in MM is related to 343i choosing to get rid of voting/vetoing and go with a rotational concept. Imagine how much worse quitting would be if people got KOTH or VIP (some less popular gamemodes) and didn’t want to play. I remember in H3/Reach/H4 when these unpopular gametypes were selected the roster would immediately begin to lose players. Just a thought.
All in all I’m satisfied.
Halo 5 has content I am yet to see. Still haven’t seen a few maps.
It’s got tons of “content”
the game is just riddled with poor design choices that makes the content we do have get old very fast so people keep demanding new experiences to keep the game fresh
meanwhile the other night I played probably my millionth game of team slayer on high ground on Halo 3 and had an absolute riot 10 years after release…I wonder why that is?
90 GB+ says otherwise. And don’t you dare bring up that “They don’t know how to file compress” crap!

I don’t think that halo 5’s massive storage is due to gamemodes being added in. Im not a computer expert so I have no idea on why halo 5 takes up so much space but poor data compression is likely why the game is so huge.
So much approval for this post
I’d like you to join my thread
What? I know exactly how much content Halo 5 has. It’s still fun.
