Halo 5: Guardians...What we the players want!

So, I’m going to assume that all of the people viewing this are fans of Halo? Right? Well if you are here is a place to discuss what we the players want (and don’t want) in Halo 5: Guardians.

What I’m assuming everybody doesn’t want:

-AAs (already confirmed to not return)
-Sprint
-Personal Ordnance
-Perks in Loadouts

What I’m assuming everybody does want:
-Classic gameplay restored.
-Elites in multiplayer

Now, I personally do want sprint to return. I know a lot disagree with me.
And now, on another one of these threads, it’s open season on the pro-sprint fans like me.

We begin with Halo CE’s two triangles.

Gun - Grenade - Melee

Run - Jump - Crouch

New concepts like Halo 2’s Dual Wielding, Halo 3’s Equipment, and Halo 4’s Thruster Pack return and are improved upon.

Halo CE’s Flashlight is replaced by a version of Halo ODST’s VISR as the Spartans’ default enhanced vision mode.

Halo 2’s Ammo Packs return and are improved upon.

Halo 3’s Support Weapons return and are improved upon.

A form of Halo 4’s Perks return and are improved upon.

> New concepts like Halo 2’s Dual Wielding, Halo 3’s Equipment, and Halo 4’s Thruster Pack return and are improved upon.

Meh… I was never too big on the Thruster. Everything else you have there I’d like to see improved.

> Halo CE’s Flashlight is replaced by a version of Halo ODST’s VISR as the Spartans’ default enhanced vision mode.

Heck no, ODST’s VISR mode blinded me most of the time. Reach’s night vision worked best for me.

Where can we vote for taking sprint out?

the only way sprint works is if you can still shoot.

Dual Wielding can die in a -Yoinking!- fire.

I also would prefer that 4’s Packages do not return.

But other than that, this is a great idea.

i’d mostly like if some things could make a comeback.
the H:CE MA5B, the silenced & scoped SMG, at least campaign-only
some kind of VISR-mode would be also great in campaign.
if it comes to matchmaking, i’d like sprint, AA’s & perks to be gone.
and as an offline-alternative to MM, Firefight, SpOps or maybe even something entirely new.
at least something else than campaign to be playable offline and/or without live gold.

[/li]- Faster base movement speed

  • Sprint removed
  • Ordnance removed
  • Thrusters a default ability, can be used to double-jump
  • Faster kill times for multiple headshots with precision weapons
  • Equal starts, i.e. no perk system
  • Overshield, camo, speed boost as pickups

I could go on, but in short, what I want is for Halo 5 to be an arena shooter. In recent years, “realistic” shooters have all but removed arena gameplay from mainstream gaming. Even Halo, which traditionally sat between the two styles, has been leaning more and more towards realism with recent iterations. 343 should be looking to reverse this trend.

It would be nice if Halo 5 went back to a more classic feel. If they were to bring back Reach’s power weapon physics and Halo 3’s sword fighting, and make the vehicles operate more like they did in earlier games, I feel these things would make the game feel more competitive and fun for new and old players.

Certain aspects introduced in Halo 4 such as perks, power weapon spawn icons, ordnance drops, and grenade damage indicators should be gone. These take away some of the classical aspects of Halo like learning map/spawn control and everyone fighting on equal grounds while also taking away the effectiveness of grenades (aside from Plasma grenades).

You shouldn’t assume. I know a lot of people who like everything you say everybody doesn’t want. And they’ve been playing since CE.

AA don’t bother me.
Neither do CLs. If I had to choose between both of them I would say keep CLs.

Ordnance drops can be a nuisance. Because once a team gets an upper hand they keep an upper hand because they have a team full of power weapons.

Being able to choose your own weapons is a very nice touch. And no it doesn’t make it a class based shooter.

The arena style multiplayer that the classic players want will return. But 343 has said that the arena style will only be a small part of Halo 5’s multiplayer.

Playing as elites would be cool and so would be playing as Promethean Knights. Also just for fun I want to play as grunts. It would be cool to play as MC, Arbiter and Agent Locke.

Bring back firefight and scratch Spartan Ops. Also I would like to have space combat multiplayer. Something that Reach missed out on.

I would also like a gametype where it is very dark and you have to rely on flashlights to see your enemy.

I’m sure there are more but I can’t think of them right now.

Remove the variables that make gameplay random. e.g.

  • Armour Abilities
  • Sprint
  • Tactical Packages/Support Upgrades (Perks)
  • Personal Loadouts

Add in the following

  • Playable Elites
  • In game visible Ranking system
  • UNSC Flying Vehicle e.g. Hornet/Falcon
  • Decent list of gametypes
  • Much more options for custom games
  • Small and well-thought out maps (not huge big team maps)
  • A forge mode without any structures in-built or glitches
  • A longer campaign (no more button pressing!)

not on the list but a better joining a game in progress i went back to reach and i just got fed up with people quitting

sprint im to use to it i tried to go back to halo 3 with out it it was way to slow and just felt bulky might be the word

This is pretty amusing, considering Halo 4 didn’t have one proper BTB map.

I wish I could vote for sprint and firefight! but here’s my idea for sprinting: when you start sprinting you go slow as your just walking normally but as your sprinting the longer you sprint the more speed you build up, as you are almost at the end of sprint you slow down to catch your breath and it would just make sense to reduce speed for players with heavy weapons such as rocket laumcher, spartan laser, saw sniper etc… It would just work!

Loadouts. I just care about using the weapons I want; I don’t care if there’s perks or not.

Other than that, I want Firefight and yet another damn good campaign.

And elites for multiplayer that too

You need a new tv then, because I saw just fine on my tv.
To quote on the OP post, VISR system would be pretty awesome for campaign mode.

Lol the whole community wants different things. 343 can’t make everyone happy… some people like long range, some like CQC… some like dual wielding, some don’t.
I have faith 343 will make a great game, but the community will bash the -Yoink- out Halo Masterchief Collection for life!
