Halo 5 Guardians Story Theory.

My theory for Halo 5 Guardians.

SPOILER ALERT, GATHERED USING INFO FROM THE ESCALATION COMICS

Chief is getting slow, His luck is running out, He was almost killed by the Didact. But he didn’t, he was saved by Blue team, His GUARDIANS at that time. At this point most of humanity know about the Chief, Humanities invincible hero. Humanities savior. Halo 2, Sgt Johnson said “Folks need heroes Chief, to give them hope” Chief is humanities hero, Chief gives Humanity hope. If Chief were to die, What would happen, Humanities greatest hero, A seemingly invincible warrior, dead, We would lose hope… Maybe Locke isn’t sent to kill him, Maybe Locke is Chief’s Guardian Angel, all ways there, giving help if need. Trying to keep him alive.

Chief has a Guardian Angel: Luck.

The events of Halo 4 seem unfortunate, but I think they’re leading somewhere important (from a fatalistic standpoint). I’m not sure what Locke’s role is, but based on the MCC announcement trailer, he needs to find Chief and bring him back from wherever he is because “all of our lives are at stake”. So I don’t think of Locke as Chief’s guardian angel, but more of the only person capable enough to follow in Chief’s wake and get him back to save the galaxy again. We get to follow Master Chief from an outsider perspective to even better understand his character.

I think the point made of Chief being a hero for humanity, as well as the comment made of Locke trying to save humanity, points toward the game’s title. I think the game will focus on Chief, and by extension Locke (or vice versa), being humanity’s guardians. The game will touch on topics of what it means to be a guardian/hero, who can be one, and what is required of a guardian. We’re seeing more and more emotions and psychological aspects of Chief than ever before, and we’ll find how far down the rabbit hole humanity’s (and/or the galaxy’s) guardian will have to go to save us all. The price of being a guardian is high for Chief, and I think we’ll see a glimpse of that with Locke too.

It looks like the word “Guardians” will have meanings on many levels, but I always thought it was to do with humanity becoming the Guardians of the Mantle and all that. Interesting, though.

Yeah, I think it could have multiple meanings as well.

From John being a guardian of humanity.
Cortana having served as John’s guardian.
Humanity’s reclamation of the mantle.
Thel being a guardian to the Elites.
To the Enigmatic nature of the Precursors and their creation of life in the galaxy.
