the new pelican design is more war practical than previous installments due to its curving nature and extra thrusters

That thing is more Pratical to Nose dive with all that weight being mostly at the front
The old one had more of a sleek design and built for war
I also actually like the new one over the old,it has something from the Hind.
I’m not an aeronautics engineer, but I’m pretty sure the D79 makes less sense as a design.
i hate the way everything has to pivot and carry on with the new pelican. Definately a fan of the old design with the downward facing thrusters attached to the main drive pods as opposed to this make the entire wing and engine pods pivot. I guess its trying to be like the V22 Osprey however, that makes sense for the V22 because the huge blades need to be on the wingtips, not so much with the near hull placed engines on the H5 pelican. Also what with the 2 little engines in the back?
Only plus for H5 pelican is the tandem Mi-24 style cockpit
The post war era designs don’t look anywhere near as cool as the classic war era designs
I actually agree with this, I love how it looks, regardless of the practicality of it.
I like most of 343’s designs over Bungie’s personally
I dont agree that it looks more practical, but I agree that it fits in very well with 343’s other designs.
But I prefer Bungie’s design when it comes to the pelican amongst other things (forerunner tech looking ancient yet highly advanced versus 343’s clean, almost-living glow with a stainless steel look that seems as if it was built yesterday)
Nah…for some reason the old school pelican is more visually pleasing to me. I like the rough, edge look over the curvy one.
I prefer the new Pelican. It looks so much more awsome and scary, compared to Bungie’s design. I like the new 343I art style. The new Warthog is so much better than the old design.
most unsc vehicles are sitting ducks, at least for war porpouse.

Sadly accurate. Ya gotta wonder what exactly what was going through their minds in the UNSC R&D department…

While I agree that the second Pelican looks a lot better (even though the argument of superiority based on subjective aesthetics is ridiculous), I have to point out: that Pelican is a 343 design made to look like a modern version of THIS, which is what a classic Pelican actually looks like. Which makes it even more depressing because that awesome Halo 2 Anniversary Pelican (and Halo 2 Anniversary in general) is what Halo 4 and 5 would have looked like had 343 decided not to completely retcon the look of Halo with flimsy canonical excuses. While they’re still nice looking games (especially Halo 4), they look more like Alternate Universe Halo than post-war Halo if you ask me.
… although, the term “post war” got me thinking … think of the changes in the Pelican like the changes to cars PRE & POST World War 2 (from 1940 to 1950) but with military hardware. Or something. I don’t know. lol
I liked the older pelicans as it’s just a rip off from aliens ( as is most of halo ce design ) . In pretty much all cases the older art style is best , in terms of justification because it would be more practical in war … your playing as a super human in a massive suit of armour fighting aliens in space , reality isn’t and shouldn’t be a primary motivation for design .
Ahh, I think I’d take the old pelican while we’re at it with old Designs.
How about we turn the New Pelican into a Condor, and turn the Old Pelican into a Pelican!
I’d love it a lot better if some of these designs didn’t go to waste, but also didn’t replace what was already there. Plus, The Condor is huge, it’s be UNSCs new titan ship, and we’d get to keep the thinner, more sleek design.
isnt it a win win? I was surprised at how many preferred 343’s design here, so I think this would satisfy both sides pretty well.
Its like the new Elite Designs, they are clearly, as of Halo Wars 2, a new phenotype , while the old school elites just exist elsewhere.
