Halo 5: Guardians NEEDS MP Space Battles

It is essential as far as I’m concerned. I’ve always wondered why they don’t have it, Halo is the biggest Sci-Fi game out there for goodness sake! Bungie were planning on including it in Halo 3 but it got cut, so next-gen Halo, new engine, new capabilities, new gorgeous graphics… Imagine how EPIC a Multiplayer Space Battle would be.

I’m imagining something like Battlefront, where you can fly ships but also go on foot aboard a ‘mother-ship’.

How about it is like a bomb game-type only in space, a dedicated mode simply for this. 16 vs 16 and 2 motherships where players must plant bombs in 3 different sectors of the oppositions’ mother-ship (infinity size or something). On the ships there’d be upgrades and all kind of fancy things. Just imagine flying around space in glorious Next-gen graphics at 60fps.

Also, how about a hub world. A sort of small-ish open futuristic slum city where players can customize their armour, loadouts (eek), and even their own PERSONAL SPACESHIP.

I honestly don’t see why this shouldn’t or couldn’t be done other than lazyness.

P.S. I know people have talked about this sort of thing before but I just want to actually give some creative ideas to 343 and remind them that there are more important things than arguing about sprint and armour abilities (which quite frankly won’t be taken out for the last time!). I want a truly epic Halo game and I think one way to do this would be the 16v16 Space Battle.

What do you guys think?

Battlefront-style space missions might work, but don’t expect them to go more than 8v8. 16v16 is just not Halo’s style.

Halo:Reach had a great space mission (Halo 4, not so much), and I’d love to have space battles in multiplayer if they can make it work.

The UNSC has plenty of ships that we could fly; like the Sabre (Scout Fighter), Broadsword (Multi-Role Fighter) Shortsword (Bomber) and Vulture (Transport/Gunship). But the Covenant only have the Seraph to compete with human ships, so they would need to make more Covenant starfighters…

Done right, space maps could mix well with Invasion, Dominion, or good old-fashioned Big Team Slayer.

Bungie was never planning to include it in Halo 3…

The first time they gave the idea a shot was in Halo Reach, but they had to cut it for time constraints and disc space.

I don’t feel like it’s necessary. But it’d be cool to have Longswords, Sabres, Broadswords, Shortswords, Seraphs, Banshees, Phantoms, Pelicans, and Spirits all duking it out in space :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d like to see a Battlefront-styled space mode in Halo. If it was a reskin of the Battlefront mode as a basic idea, it could be a UNSC Frigate against a Covenant Corvette, like how it was in Reach.

For the UNSC, the Booster Frame can serve as the light/anti-aircraft craft, the Sabre, or a mass-produced equivalent, as the medium/well-rounded craft, the Longsword as the heavy/bomber craft, and the Pelican as the troop transport and team spawn point once it lands in the enemy hanger.

For the Covenant, the Exoatmospheric Banshee can serve as the light/anti-aircraft counterpart, the Seraph as the medium/well-rounded counterpart, the Vampire could be slightly altered to be the heavy/bomber counterpart, or a new ship made altogether, and rounding it off with the Phantom serving as the troop transport and team spawn point.

With the addition of the thruster packs in Halo 4, it could also be possible for a player to enter space on their own, or eject from a ship near death. Skilled players could maybe even board an enemy fighter if they weren’t splattered on the hull. It could be possible for players to exit their home ship and battle in the zero-g space between them. Could be a lot of fun with the right number of players, or even with some bot support.

I really don’t feel that a Space MP mode is absolutely needed.

I agree, I never heard of that either… do you have a source on this guest366?

I agree, I don’t feel it’s necessary at all. To me if they do this, they’re massively changing halo into a completely different style of game. No thanks

It would be an awesome map. Do it affect the gameplay? Well you can check out some similar hce maps at halomaps.org

A simpler Battlefront style space battle would be fun. Your idea sounds promising actually. I like the sound of arming a bomb in 3 sections of a ship and then detonating them. It sounds really fun actually. The opposing team would have to defend their base and could disarm the bomb. All while facing each other. It sounds like an 16v16 idea though because 8v8 would be kinda like a dead map.

I SUPPORT THIS IDEA!

Of course Halo needs it, the community has been begging for it since Halo 3.

To say it is “necessary” would mean that sales and population would significantly suffer if it were not included, and this is something I highly doubt.

I don’t think this feature is a NECESSITY, but it would be FREAKING AWESOME!

Seriously, if nothing else it would just be a really cool mode!

Perhaps it would be better integrated into some form of multi-faction firefight scenario. But either way, just its inclusion would be pretty cool. Space battles haven’t really been done since Battlefront 2 did it, so this could be something to set halo apart from other games (although perhaps not with it integrated into traditional matchmaking).

those ones wouldn’t work. They’re both atmospheric only aircraft. Its weird how you left the Pelican out as the dropship/gunship, since it has variants for both. And it would be better to leave the Bomber out, or relegate that to the Broadsword. Or make Booster Frames the scout fighters and Sabres the bombers.

And the Covenant has the Space Banshees, the Tarasque heavy fighter, Phantoms and Spirits for gunships/troopships.

Space battles are hardly necessary but it does sound fun. Honestly the Battlefront games are some of the most fun I have ever had on consoles, so anything similar to them can hardly hurt.

That Space Battles, despite how popular some people claim it to be, wouldn’t fly with the rest of the population.

When you boil it down it’s a restriction of what you, as a player can do, for the simple tradeoff of a different paint job on your player model and on the background.

I know that there’s a rise in popularity in the Space Shooter scene: Star Citizen, EVE Valkyrie, and the like.

In Reach, LNoS was a nice palette cleanser moment. As a stand alone gametype, I see the population dying off quickly and sadly hardly essential.

Call !e boring, but I just want a space battle, were I’m not the guy in the spaceship, I want to use the giant cannons on the “mother ship” itself!

They don’t NEED to make it, but it could be very fun.

> They don’t NEED to make it, but it could be very fun.

Exactly what I was going to say.

There are so many other things that I want 343 to get right in this game.

I’m by no means against this, in fact I’d love to see it but it’s no where near a priority in my book.

But for the sake of the conversation I gotta say if 343 do go ahead and replace Sprint with the Thruster pack I think using the Thruster pack in the middle of a space battle when you’re not in a vehicle could be pretty cool.

i always wanna create a custom game of spaceships.
