HALO 5: GUARDIANS MP BETA FEEDBACK - FORUMS

Dear 343i,

Before I start giving away my recommendations I’d like to congratulate you from dev to dev (and also a huge halo fan) for the great job you have done in balancing out gameplay and keeping the game to its roots while mantaining it fresh and new.

Now, based on the two weeks of Beta so far I will make a few of my suggestions:

Ranking System:

  • Ranking System should be modified so that Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Onyx 1, 2 and 3 should be distinguished between each other, not only making it clear which category you belong to but also what rank within that category you have.- I know this is mainly a Beta issue, but matches should go as follows:- Yet to be placed in a rank players should only be matched with yet to be placed in a rank players and Iron tier 1 players, Iron 1 and 2 with Iron 1 and 2, Iron 3 with Iron 3 and Bronze 1, and subsecuently (a gold 1, 2 shouldn’t be matched to a semi-pro or pro unless ranked to gold 3).
    Power Weapons:
  • Power Weapon spawns should be delayed for a minute or two to avoid a whole enemy team running around with enemy swords to the fullest of ammo and visceversa.- The Hydra Rocket Launcher should be given a harder lock-on or its blast radious should be increased if not doubled (Its shots can be avoided with simple jumps).- Prophets Bane max speed should be reduced to 110 or 120% rather than 150% base speed, as it makes its user overpowered, the energy sword works just fine.- Power Weapon callouts (Power weapons spawing in 30 seconds, Weapon pad available in 30 seconds) should be discarded as unique weapon callouts (Sniper in 30 seconds) are already present.Light Rifle Specific:
  • The crossfire when on hipfire mode shows one small reticule in the center sorrounded by on larger one, the larger one should be discarded seen it only makes it harder to get shots right with the LR despite the fact it functions exactly like the DMR unscoped. (Design Team)Pistol Specific:
  • The Magnum usable range should be increased to suit more long range encounters rather than close range ones as it is right now, rendering it useless as the buff given to the AR already makes it a medium range weapon and great close range weapon.Game Mode Spawns:
  • Slayer should only feature AR spawns rather than BR spawns as Assault Rifle spawns force players to dominate the map in order to use the weapons they so desire, it promotes teamwork to get to dominate the map, and promotes communication to get to work as a team.I’d like to mention once more how great of a job you have done here, I know there is a lot of negative reactions at the moment (although most are positive) but that will always happen, with a few necesary changes and the game’s release, it will all be ok…

ADDITIONAL SUGGESTIONS:

Fisics and Movement:

  • Explosive push should be toned down a little bit, sometimes an explosion can send you of flying accross the map.- Friendly spartan movement shouldn’t affect your positioning, sometimes friendly players can run into you ruining your aim or moving you to unsafe positions, if they bump into you they should be stopped.That is all for the moment,

The grenade fuse needs to be altered. The frag grenades don’t seem to explode after initial bounce but explode after a few bounces.

I agree with a lot of what you said but about Matchmaking, that is a specific issue for any Beta (or Alpha). Since the player population is low right now most skill based matchmaking features are turned off for sake of getting games within a reasonable time frame (learned this from playing Heroes of the Storm Alpha).

Also it seems like what constitutes mid and close range is different for everyone. The AR for me seems to work best in between close and mid while the SMG is true close range (any closer and I would call it melee range since there is a bit of a dash to it).

My suggestions:

-Increase Shields, they are shredded to quick
-SMG too OP
-AR Range and Damage needs to be nerfed
-Balance the teams better, in my experience they put all Silver and Below on one team and Semi-Pro and Gold on one.
-Lack of Auto aim is a huge disadvantage when playing, yet, people have like perfect aim, please add a bit more auto aim

Overall, fun game

  • Yes, i kind of agree with that, but seeing as Sprint is a thing, maybe it would be not such a good addition as they could escape firefights much easier with a lot more shields.
  • SMGs are really powerful up close but try to use them 3 meters away (9 feet) and any gun will beat you, if their aim is true.
  • Assault Rifles are a bit powerful that is right, maybe I’ll suggest increasing the spread just a bit, but not so much so that it goes back to halo 2, 3, 4 state in which it was useless.
  • It makes it harder to aim, sometimes I get perfects all through-out a match, others I wont, the key is enemy movement, I learned to play as in Halo CE, as this is still Halo, you need to strafe left and right while shooting and they wont get you, it doesnt matter if you miss a few shots as they will have a hard time too, if you are damaged badly thrust to cover.

i couldnt agree with you more!<div></div><div>The magnum was great at longrange in pervious games, it seems now that its been nerfed to medium range only, being not to affective at short range.</div><div></div><div>That is my only concern apart from the fact that i think the Mark VI scarred looks a Bit wonky as it looks like someone coloured it with a sharpie although i hope this is temperary as is the gray look op black for spartan armour.</div><div></div><div>AND PLEASE BRING BACK ELITES AND ONLINE WEAPON LOWERING. Weapon Lowering is already in the Beta :wink:

Elites will most definetively come back… for the campaing O_O,

as you asked on my thread i’ll add my suggestions:

things that need to be changed:

  • the music when you die!- icons above teammates heads so you can clearly see who it is- text when killing enemies and weapon pickups is far too small- lighting on some of the maps is too dark noone likes playing on dark depressing maps- i think AR needs either damage decrease or more inaccurate at mid range- ease up on the medals, medals should be for achievement getting a headshot isn’t one- bumper jumper: for me i prefer this layout but in halo 5 sprint is on A which makes it hard to play i think crouch should be on A and sprint on the left click.- The ranking system needs abit more diversity 7 tiers i don’t think is enough to separate players, i do like the tier system though maybe it could be combined with 1-50 somehow.- obviously this isn’t the full game but social playlists are required- maybe think about for the more competitive playlists having gamechat only like call of duty in S&D

  • The death music- Grenade blast radius- Plasma grenade UP- Sniper and DMR’s SS delay- Hit registration

True, 1 and 2 have already been communicated but:

Plasma Grenade Specific:

  • Increase the blast radius significantly but smaller than Frag’s.
  • Increase the damage output to 150% Frag’sSniper and DMR shots are sometimes not registered correctly when not aiming down sights, same for the Light Rifle.

PD: I know the Hit detection issues, but could you please specify more for me to communicate this to 343i.

another suggestion: the ranking system the ability to not rank down after you achieve a rank level is a terrible idea. there becomes no consequence to losing
