Recent posts from 343 Industries staff suggest that the next “Halo” game has the darkest story of the franchise. A similar motif was also teased for “Hunt The Truth” episode 3.
The news comes to Design & Trend via two separate tweets from 343 Industries’ “Halo” franchise director Frank O’Connor. While not overly descriptive, both messages offer a slight taste of what “Halo 5: Guardians’” story and promotion will hold.
With regard to the story of “Halo 5: Guardians” specifically, one Twitter follower commented to O’Connor that he heard “Halo 5” would be the darkest “Halo” yet. In conformation of this assertion, the 343 project head said “yes, but you can always turn up the contrast and brightness.” The latter half of the tweet is obviously a joke, but it’s important to take note of the blatant affirmation that’s initially proffered.
Unlike past games in the “Halo” franchise, there’s a hint that the story of “Halo 5: Guardians” will be far more complex than a tale of intergalactic heroics. That much was already suggested by the new live-action story trailers. While Master Chief and Locke are technically tied to the same side of the series’ conflict, both advertisements showed that one Spartan was overtly willing to shoot, and possibly kill, the other.
A dark story was also teased for episode 3 of the “Hunt The Truth” audio logs as well. The SoundCloud recordings follow Benjamin Giraud as he digs into the lore behind the man that gamers know as Master Chief. Episode 2 was released a few days ago, but O’Connor recently teased that the “next episode of #huntthetruth goes to a dark place.”
Without spoiling plots for those that haven’t listened, in some ways the story has already taken a dark turn. Themes of death are already being uncovered behind a tale that at one time seemed rife with good deeds.
As for other story details of “Halo 5: Guardians,” past Design & Trend articles suggest that the narrative will focus on a game of cat-and-mouse between Master Chief and Locke. However, a conflict with a new alien force eventually puts that search mission in flux.

Halo 5 looks like it’s going to be dark. Mu know this has been speculated over and over but it’s probably because of the flood coming back. I’ll leave you with these two quotes that relate to each other.

I want a more complex, deep and dark story, but I also want a more humoristic approach to the multiplayer, like bungie did putting things like flame head, katana, flying hearts and the list goes on. The infinity war games were too military.
I can get hyped by this. Halo’s backstory has always been dark and the Flood was dark, but some more depth in the games is always a good thing

In the books the flood are described as been able to use precursor tech. if the flood in halo 5 get access to this technology I can expect it to become VERY dark…

This. The flood are coming back, and sh*t’s about to get real.
On another note, I expect to see very mature content as war on human colonies is explored in greater detail. Civil war and insurrection will likely be a theme in Halo 5. I expect to see a lot of human casualties, maybe even situations where we have to kill humans as either Locke or Chief.

I don’t know about the Flood returning. I do know however that no Precursor artifacts remain in the Milky Way, as they were wiped clean by the firing of the Halos.
Infinity is shown to have sustained a fair amount of damage in the live-action trailers, but I think it still has a few more years of service in it.
And Chief isn’t going anywhere any time soon. Trust me, it’s confirmed.

I’m not sure if the flood is coming back either. But I saw those 2 quotes and how much foreshadowing is in those 2 quotes is really something to think about. If not in 5 they’ll show up in a future game.

Problem is when 343 put some lighter stuff in the multiplayer people just complained about it.
