According to the USA Pre-order chart at VGChartz, Halo 5: Guardians is currently #4 for Most pre-ordered games so far this year. Of course, this data is as of January 3rd, so there are probably more pre-orders since then. If anyone has more recent data, feel free to link the source. But currently, it has 148,025 pre-orders with 34,000 of those pre-orders added within a week.
So what do you guys think about this? Are you excited for the final product? Do you have a good feeling about this Halo? Personally, I do, I am very excited for this Halo and I feel it’s going to be a game-changer.
This is just warming up the preorders - Wait till E3 when they show off the campaign and forge the rest of what they have install for multiplayer. As 343 said, they chose to have beta for the arena style gameplay because it had the all new spartan abilities which needed to be tested and some weapons, which is just a small portion of the games multiplayer. Thats when the pre-orders will start pouring in.
I wasn’t expecting that. I’m glad Halo 5 is doing so well right now. Hopefully it keeps up or moves to the top once E3 hits and more games are shown. I want Halo 5 to have a higher population than any other Halo game.

I also did say that if anyone has other, more reliable data to post the source material here. At the moment, the only numerical data I have found thus far was provided on VGChartz. I’ll keep looking for more data. But, I have no doubt that the pre-orders have exceeded 100,000 already.
VGCharts is halfway legit, but not 100% Also, it’s too early to determine Halo 5’s success. The Arena Style gameplay was only to test the new Spartan Abilities, and weapon balances for 4v4, 5v5 and FFA. You still have to factor in Forge, Custom Games, and BTB which will also factor in the new Spartan Abiltities. Though I’m intrigued to see how Ground Pound will do against a Tank, let alone a Banshee if you don’t time it right. I can see a lot of fails coming from Ground Pounds to Banshees from misguided aim.

Yes, but I’d also imagine that’s because you’ll be playing as two characters with separate narratives – something that’s not been done in AAA Halo game since Halo 2. And if this game can flesh-out Halo’s story to the extent that Halo 2 did and become a popular multiplayer title, it would capture what Halo 2 did really well.
Eh, I don’t really care about predorders. After what 343 Industries did with the MCC, I’m not going to preorder again.
I’ll buy the game as soon as it comes out. But I’m not shelling out any more before its release.

Yeah. A lot of pre-order AAA titles have been doing worse lately. Battlefield 4 for example.

Truth is we dont fully know until it’s brought up by ALL distributors. VGChartz only keeps track of so many, especially only in the US. However, they’re numbers are usually off in general, and they try to update when the full news comes out.
Example, a couple weeks before MS announced the XBO hit 10m sales (to customers) VGC had the number of sales hovering around the 8m mark. (I check them from time to time.)
