Halo 5: Guardians - Feedback for 343i

343i, after I’ve spent nearly 3-4 months away from this game before returning to it for the holiday season I’ve got to say I absolutely love where it’s at right now; especially, regarding the updated playlists and customs browser, but here is some feedback from me regarding what I see as areas to continue improving it further.

  • Fix the Red team exploit in Warzone that allows the team to get out of the starting base while the doors are suppose to be blocked. - Custom settings for the race mode need to include the ability to despawn vehicles immediately once a player isn’t on or in one and preferably have the settings include the player being respawned instantly back onto or into the chosen default vehicle if they get out or off of it. Pretty sure Halo Reach’s race mode operated like this. - Introduce daily, weekly, and monthly challenges that’ll earn a player REQ packs, experience, and REQ points. Model the idea of the challenge system off of what Halo Reach had with its’ challenges. Something like this could encourage expanded play or redirect population to try out some playlists or modes that players may not typically spend much time in. - Remove the Blackeye Skull within Mythic Firefight and instead replace it with the Tilt Skull, but change the round it gets introduce. Round 1: Tough Luck, Round 2: Tough Luck - Catch, Round 3: Tough Luck - Catch - Thunderstorm, Round 4: Tough Luck - Catch - Thunderstorm - Tilt, Round 5: Tough Luck - Catch - Thunderstorm - Tilt - Mythic. - Can you re-introduce the Warzone REQ pack and create a new Spartan REQ pack, but make them part of the standard offering so that they can also be purchased with REQ points. The idea is to offer a pack that’s designated for character customization only (including the 9 new classic helmets) and a pack that’s designated for higher-end Warzone weaponry only so that players have a few better options for narrowing down what they want to spend their REQ points on. Make these packs cost 15000 or 20000 points and $3.99 or $4.99 if need be, but at least give people the option to improve their chances to obtain what they seek the most. - Allow players to turn on/off specific Warzone weapon and vehicle certificates (once they’ve been earned) in order to modify the odds of receiving specific weaponry when opening REQ packs. - A personal favorites list of character customization would be nice; I mean, it’d be awesome if we could put together 5 or so complete character packages that we save as our favorites in order to have them as quick swap selections in case someone wanted to quickly change out from the current customization they were using on the fly without having to search out every piece. These favorite packages should include armor, armor colors, visor, logo, logo colors, gender, assassination, stance, and weapon skins. - A map veto option might be helpful in reducing some of the redundancy that can occur in matchmaking searches. In other words, it might help lessen the likelihood of playing back-to-back matches on the same map and variant due to the fact that Halo 5 resets its lobbies after every match. - Bring back Halo 4’s point scoring system for several of the Social playlists and modes as it’s a fantastic method for allowing all players to feel more involved and like they can contribute to the team even if they’re not racking up big KDA ratios or getting credit for scoring a non-slayer objective. - Introduce the Extraction and Regicide game modes to Halo 5’s Social Arena (Extraction in both Social Skirmish and BTB while Regicide in BTB and a new Team Social Slayer playlist). See the Spoiler below for additional changes to the Social playlist tab that I’d very much like to see.
  • The Team Skirmish playlist could/should include these modes: remove the Slayer mode in order to make it a true non-slayer based objective playlist
  • CTF (medium high rotation) - Strongholds (medium high rotation) - Assault (medium rotation) - 1-Site Extraction (medium rotation) - Oddball (medium low rotation) - KotH (medium low rotation)
  • The BTB playlist could/should include these modes:
  • Slayer (medium high rotation) - CTF (medium high rotation) - Strongholds (medium rotation) - Assault (medium rotation) - Multi-Site Extraction (medium rotation) - Regicide (medium rotation) - KotH (medium rotation) - SWAT (medium low rotation) - Oddball (medium low rotation)
  • Turn the Fiesta Slayer Playlist into a mix-bag (Social) Team Slayer playlist that includes all of these slayer-based modes:
  • Slayer (medium high rotation) - Super Fiesta (medium high rotation) - Regicide (medium rotation) - Shotty Snipers (medium low rotation) - SWAT (medium low rotation)
  • [UPDATE] Since the Triple-Team and Shotty Snipers playlists have officially been removed as permanent offerings (btw, move Shotty Snipers into that mixed bag Social Slayer playlist so it’ll still be available) it’ll be interesting to see what types of rotational playlists pop-up within Social Arena. I think Triple-Team should be a fairly frequent returning rotational playlist.

Overall, it’s been a ton of fun playing Halo 5: Guardians again. Thanks for continuing to expand and improve the game!

I wonder if a type of Dominion mode could be introduced to Warzone that could see the bases having types of fortifications added to them - more than just some marines spawning to defend it. However, this is probably an idea that’s better off being reserved for Halo 6 if Halo 5’s Warzone mode is built upon and taken further in that eventual game.

This is the best Halo yet in my opinion. Keep up the great work 343!
On that note I really wish you guys could organize the armor and helmets like how Reach was set up. (Base helmet, then like mods/attachments all grouped together). The variety is great but its a bit much when you want to switch quickly in between a round/game and have to search through 200+ options.

With the removal of the Slayer mode from within the Team Skirmish playlist (that I list in detail under the Spoiler section within the OP) I’d like to see the Fiesta Slayer playlist renamed and turned into a (Social) Team Slayer playlist with it as well as other slayer-based modes such as these too:

  • Slayer (medium rotation) - Super Fiesta (medium rotation) - Regicide (medium rotation) - another playlist where Regicide would be a welcomed addition - Shotty Snipers (medium rotation) - SWAT (medium rotation)By sliding the Shotty Snipers mode into the Social (Team) Slayer playlist it would also create an opportunity to introduce a Social FFA (aka Rumble Pit) playlist without increasing the total number of playlists since you wouldn’t need a playlist strictly for Shotty Snipers. I think It’d be great to have a dedicated FFA playlist under the Social banner that could help siphon out some of the FFA game modes from the Action Sack playlist in order to (1) prevent an over dilution of great game modes within that particular playlist, and (2) to free up space within the Action Sack playlist for newer team-based additions to be included.

UPDATED OP to reflect these ideas.

  • Bring back Halo 4’s point scoring system for several of the Social playlists and modes as it’s a fantastic method for allowing all players to feel more involved and like they can contribute to the team even if they’re not racking up big KDA ratios or getting credit for scoring a non-slayer objective - Remove the Blackeye Skull within Mythic Firefight and instead replace it with the Tilt Skull, but change the round it gets introduce. Round 1: Tough Luck, Round 2: Tough Luck - Catch, Round 3: Tough Luck - Catch - Thunderstorm, Round 4: Tough Luck - Catch - Thunderstorm - Tilt, Round 5: Tough Luck - Catch - Thunderstorm - Tilt - Mythic. - Fix the Red team exploit in Warzone.UPDATED OP to reflect this idea.

I intended to ask a question about this “warning” before I left for a military training deployment, but now that I’m back I’d like to follow up with that question(s).

What’s the difference between posting brand new threads that include new ideas (aka the added content) verses simply posting new responses under an existing thread? If I continuously post new threads introducing new thoughts I can’t imagine that’s against the rules (isn’t that the point of the forum?), so why is posting a new response with those new thoughts and tying them back to a thread’s original post via edit/update worthy of a forum warning? The trouble with simply updating or editing an original post without a new response to highlight what’s new and been added is that it doesn’t place the thread back into the limelight for 343i members or the community to easily see the new additional thoughts/ideas. It just seems like a cleaner method to introduce new feedback to 343i and the community verses having to create new threads all the time. And in some cases using hyperlinks to try bringing and tying previous thoughts or ideas all together.

It wasn’t a warning; just friendly reminder for right now. I was referring to multi-posting in this thread. I.E. before my reply you have three consecutive posts and two at the start. Those activities are a from of post bumping or spam, both of which are against the forum rules. (You mentioned specifically placing it back into the limelight which makes me think you were intentionally violating the rules.) If you have question about moderation decisions or the rules PM one of us as well. That is also covered in forum rules. They’re linked below if you want to give them a read…

Edit: You can also flag new info in your edited post like I just did.
