2012: halo 4 released and I played the campaign and multiplayer extensively. The multiplayer wasn’t great but hey the campaign rocked. I was somewhat satisfied with halo 4 as a whole.
2014: MCC released and Halo 5 was announced. MCC was a broken mess, but it allowed me to still play the classic campaigns I still love. Also: Halo 5 marketing began to start back up and we got to see Locke for the first time and how he was going after chief. We got to learn about the chiefs decision to go rogue. We got hunt the truth. We got hunt the signal. We got the h2a cutscenes and terminals. This was building up to a great halo campaign!
Summer 2015: Halo 5 story looks to be great and the marketing seems to connect, me and a lot of other halo fans are exciting and eager to play halo 5.
Release of Halo 5: Disappointment… The story… The campaign… The Amount of content… What happened 343. Halo used to be a game about an awesome campaign, a fun multiplayer, and loads of content. That doesn’t describe halo 5 at all. The story was mediocre (worst of the series), the campaign was linear (small environments and scripted sequences), and there was barely and content. 7 months for infection is a joke, I mean seriously we STILL don’t have race!!!
Halo isn’t what made halo popular anymore. It’s my favorite franchise that is trying to imitate other shooters, and it forgot what made it popular in the first place. Halo needs to trust its fan base and give us our playlists, give us our game modes, if we don’t like a certain playlist or mode if rather that than barely any content! Halo needs a good story and a bigger and better campaign. Halo needs to realize that it will flourish once again by staying halo and not trying to reinvent itself. The Campaign of halo 5 is the biggest disappointment.
If there is something you take away from this its that halo 6 needs Content and a Better Campaign/Story. These are what make halo, halo!
