Just wanting to see how many other Halo fans as myself think of the Halo 5 Grunt Talk, the things they say in their high pitched voices do not fit at all in my opinion with the serious and somewhat dark/epic world of Halo. It takes me out of it just as Jar Jar Binks did for star wars. I would love to see in future Halo’s that 343 give us an option to disable the high pitched annoying and cheesy things grunts say, it was a bad decision and breaks the immersion of halo at times. It could be replaced with their own language, as I understand some people do like the “comic” relief of the grunts, although some may say it is to goofy for the amazing universe 343 is building of off.
What are everyone else’s opinions on this subject?
Well people wanted it back, so 343i brought it back, and like you pointed out, it’s comic relief. I personally love the Grunt talk and it doesn’t nearly happen often enough to be a problem or break immersion, the dialogues they make when running away also fits with their cowardly mentality.
You must not have ever played Halo before. Grunts have ALWAYS said goofy one-liners about silly things like “food -Yoink!-” and made remarks like “Who give beatdown, We give beatdown!”. Grunts have always been the comic relief.
Grunts have always been like this. Bungle just decided to kill their English in Reach to make the Covenant srz biznez and 343 followed suit in Halo 4, though Jul’s Covenant is a joke in comparison.

The Halo campaign didn’t start taking itself so seriously until 343 got their hands on it. Grunts and marines always through out silly catchphrases. I used to love when you had a marine in the gunner position of your warthog and you go over a big ramp. The marine would throw his fist in the air and let out a cheer.

This.
I really liked Halo Reach because we couldn’t understand them (due to the canon), but realized that I missed them talking. It was cool to have them back in Halo 5.
High pitched grunt jibber jabber is one of the four legs of the stool, man! They’re part of the essential formula. Guns, Grenades, Melee, and Grunts. =)
You should find the grunt and elite watching the sunset on sanghelios. That’s some funny stuff right there.
Respect everyone’s opinion but gotta go with the majority here, I also am glad the funny grunts are back… I understand it’s supposed to be somewhat dark but Halo has always found a way to inject a little humor here and there no matter how dire the situation, that’s part of it’s charm. This game’s overall audio (both the music and the SFX) sounds so much more like Halo to me than Halo 4 did.

> Or is it Yapflip? No wait… Yapflip is his brother. Don’t tell me I don’t know Flipyap! Flipyap and I went to Nipple Academy together! And… and he’s dead…

I miss Flipyap
On a related note, OP, you could just mute your TV… I personally enjoy it. Breaks up the seriousness that the rest of the campaign tried to have (minus Buck).

Are you serious? Every* Halo game besides Reach and 4 had these adorable voices. I’m glad they brought it back, Halo was always supposed to have some comedy in it. I’m beyond glad they brought it back.
Hopefully marines get the same treatment soon.
