As many others I too was experiencing the frustration of the Update glitch
I found the solution
In campaign mode instead of resuming and or loading. Hit restart mission, and once started hit save last checkpoint.
Now go ahead and PLAY with no issues whatsoever.
Did this abd thoroughly tested it and at no point was I ever returned to the dashboard
