Sorry for the confusing title, I just wanted to ask, does anyone feel that the only reason Halo 5 even has a population is monthly/randomly confirmed content updates? I do, and I feel that if I’m sticking around a game to wait for new content regularly, then something is definately wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, I think free content is good, but all I’ve seen from 343i so far in terms of GOOD free content are Tidal, and Classic Weapons, and the Wasp, that’s it, so my question is, will we actually get cool stuff now that 343i are actually taking time to make these updates or is it just gonna be more crappy reskins and unnecessary stuff?

It got really old for me in early November. I’ve never stopped a Halo game as fast as I did this one. Even Halo 3 ODST had more play time.
Added maps and play lists were very welcome. More visors, armors, emblems, and other cosmetics not so much.
I think the updates definitely kept folks around longer than if they had just dumped everything at launch. For me finishing reqs and most commendations had a larger impact. I’m not grinding for that next pack or trying to finish a certain commendation, so I tend to drift to other games a bit more.

Yes it is. We got over 100 loadout weapons, over 100 reskin armors, over 10 Warthhogs, etc., which are totally unnceeasry and useless things.
Since Infection and Firefight were added closer to the end, its given H5 a lot more longevity for me.
I played regularly pretty much up until WZ firefight. I play occasionally now. The commendation system is ridiculously unrewarding. The only ones I haven’t completed that can be done in WZ are warthog and mongoose destroyer, as well as cliffhangar. Getting a couple of uncommon reqs for finishing level 5 of things like weapon mastery and promethean slayer is ridiculous, there should be multiple gold req packs at least. Now that the regular content drops are done there isnt really much for me to work on and it feels kind of boring a lot of the time, it is so very hard to get the reqs I want, to use them more regularly as I have a ridiculously polluted prize pool of every weapon and vehicle in the game.
Well, now that they are mostly done finishing the game and aren’t releasing regular REQ padding to make it seem fresh, you’re left with the sad, empty realization that Warzone sucks balls and Arena is a complete joke without party restrictions in ranked.

I understand the idea, it is just so hard to destroy a mongoose when the driver is so exposed, tactically speaking it’d be faster to shoot the driver off. And cliffhangars are really satisfying but theyre hardly something you can easily work towards, does feel so good to get though.

Yeah, but 343i isn’t under a time constraint anymore, meaning they have PLENTY of time to work on something cool, like an all new weapon never seen before, or maybe a map that is actually well designed and not a reskin.

If they announced an update for armour abilities I’d lose my mind with excitement.
My rule of thumb: any time I see someone talk about how the game is getting old and I see they’ve played more than me, I just nod my head and give them a thumbs up.

Unless you love war zone which I don’t. I loathe war zone and now if I want armors that I like I’m stuck grinding/playing the RNG fiddle, but I barely play the game as it is because I dislike how arena is handled. I hate war zone and BTB was torpedoed from the start because 343 wants everyone to play warzone instead.

Vomits Blood Please no. Reach and 4 proved they were never going to be balanced.
I always thought it was weird how people praised 343 for giving monthly free content that keeps the game fresh. If the game gets stale after a couple months without new content, then that’s a problem.
I’m sire the regular drops have helped keep people playing, no other game (I know of) has had free monthly updates, should it have been there at launch? Maybe some. But at least we didn’t pay for the cut content (I’m looking at you rip off merchants Bungie, with the failure Destiny)
