I know Halo 5 is locked at 60fps. I am asking if a person plays better at 1080p 120hz than on 2160p 60hz, when the game is at 60fps. I will be really grateful the more people share their opinion.
Mathematically, it does not make sense that it would play differently. 60Hz means your screen is refreshing 60 times per second, or, to put it another way, outputting 60 frames per second (fps). Since the game is limited to 60fps, you won’t see any changes playing on a 120Hz screen since the game itself cannot match that. Hope that makes sense. I can go into more detail if you’d like, but I wanted to keep it concise.

Yeah that is what I think. Have you tried it out? It plays some kind of trick i guess. I have the feeling, at least thats where I see it the most, long shots with the br scope are more precise. The bullets feel more instant overall.

No I haven’t tried it myself. One thing that might be making your shots feel better is input lag. Look up the numbers for both your screens. The lower the number, the better. I’m assuming you don’t know what it is here, so input lag is the amount of time between when your console sends out a signal and when your screen displays that signal. Ideally you want that at 0 but that’s not entirely possible. Most gaming monitors have low input lag and so the 120Hz thing is probably a placebo. I have played Halo 5 on a screen with higher lag than mine and there’s a noticeable difference.
On rtings they say it always the same input lag 21ms
in game mode. That is what I use. I have an lg c7 55 inch.
You couldn’t play halo 5 at 120fps, only 60. If your using a 120hz screen(mine is) it will just show the same frame for 2 cycles.
To my understanding though, when you use game mode on a 4k 120hz tv, but feed it a 1080p signal, the input lag actually drops. I know mine does. At 4k the input lag in game mode is I think 35, but in 1080 I think it goes down to 17 if I’m recalling the chart correctly for my model(Sony x900e)
So technically may just feel better with lower input lag
I have 2 things to say.
- The game is locked to 60 FPS.
- It’s basically impossible to see smoother footage above 60. That is the max. The other frames are there just to be there but they don’t have any impact. So enjoy Halo 5 at 4K 60 FPS.
I just bought a monitor and was messing with the fps counter in it. Black ops 4 is running st a steady 60 on the counter but when I play halo 5 it is telling me its outputting at 120. The game is locked st 60 tho? So this cant be accurate?
