Halo 5 game version - Not updating

I have been unable to play online with Halo 5 Guardians. I get an error saying no servers are available for the version of the game I have installed. I checked the version i have installed, it is 1.1.30518.21

After checking with friends, the proper version is 1.1.31695.21.

There are no updates available for my game. My game seems stuck on the 305 version. I have tried the following;

  1. Selected game management, scrolled down to “Updates” confirmed there are no existing updates for the game. Plus my system is set to automatic updates
  2. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game.

Originally I had a game pass subscription, and believed that could have been the problem. But I unsubscribed, bought the game outright, and signed up for xbox live directly.

I still have this issue. Can anyone help?

When you did your reinstall, did you do a power cycle of your console between the two? If not, try that. I’d also recommend uninstalling, making sure you uninstall EVERYTHING, power cycle your console, and install again.

I know that’s less than ideal because of how big the game is but if you aren’t getting prompted with an update, there’s not much else you can try.

Hey Snickerdoodle,

Thanks for the reply. I’ve done four or five reinstalls at this point, but i’m not sure whether power cycling happened. I’ll try the following;

  1. Un-install the game
  2. Delete me user account from system
  3. Disconnect internet
  4. Console reset (keeping game and app data)
  5. Reconnect internet
  6. Login with my account
  7. Download the game again

Do you think this is a good order of operations?
Thanks

Hmmm. Okay so you’ve tried a lot.

Sit tight, I’m gonna ask around to see if I can find anything on my end.

I don’t expect this to work but something else you can try - can you connect to another internet source (mobile hot spot?) and then load Halo 5 and see if it prompts an update?

My gut says the issue is somewhere else but it’s worth a shot before you go nuclear.

I also had a suggestion, one to consider in case the options snickerdoodle presents don’t work. If you can get a hold of a disc copy, try installing the game while disconnected from the internet. Then, connect to the internet and boot up the game and download the update you are prompted with.

Hey everyone,

I heard back from the xbox insider program, which i was a member of. They had my machine on an old list that pushed a specific version of the game too. I got them to remove my console and game updated immediately.

Thanks for all the help!
