I remember at e3 2011 343i announced Halo 4 to be the start of the reclaimer trilogy. Thus confirming Halo 5, and Halo 6 (at least). Wikipedia then said “Halo 5 will be the darkest Halo game before the conflict is resolved in Halo 6”. Yet there was no source of 343i saying this. This stayed on Halo 5 and Halo’s wikipedia page in 2011, and has since been removed. This alleged fact of Halo 5 being “a darker Halo game” (which is ambiguous, dark in what way?) spread throughout the internet (similar to the Covenant Remnant being called the Storm Covenant inaccurately to this day, thanks to 343i not giving the new Covenant a proper and official name, shame on them).
Does anyone have a source from 343i that Halo 5: G will be a “darker” Halo game? And what do they mean by that, if it is true?
You know, I’ve heard a lot of people say this and I’ve never actually found out where it was said either.
No one from 343 or Microsoft has ever said this about Halo 5. However, 343 said this about Halo 4. Here’s the original source.
So there you have it, the origin of this statement. Halo 5 very well may be a dark Halo game, but it was said regarding Halo 4 first.
I could have swore I read a statement from someone on the Halo team about it a long time ago but I don’t feel like looking for it.
Im pretty sure i read an artical right around e3 2013 from 343i that they claimed this will be the darkest halo game yet
The exact quote was “things will get worse before they get better,” directly implying that Halo 5 would be the darkest one in the series; this was said ages ago at a con I think. But this is just common sense if you’re familiar with how a 3 act structure works. The first one sets everything up and the second one is where it all hits the fan; Empire Strikes Back was easily the darkest Star Wars, Halo 2 was easily the darkest of the original trilogy given how everything fell to pieces, and so on.
Problem with the internet is that you can’t cite something from years ago because no one keeps track of it.
It used to say this on Halopedia before the game was pseudo-announced in 2013. Now, however, not only is the info not there, but I can’t find its source (nor do I remember where it was if it existed) anywhere.
I swear that this existed somewhere else. It was literally right around the time that Halo 4 was announced. I even think it was an interview.
i mean all the #HUNTtheTRUTH episodes and what not are pretty damn dark, why does everyone need a direct citation??
I thought it was a saga, not a trilogy?

It is, and it was a trilogy, but they decided to make Halo games forever. Milk it to death. Which I am perfectly happy with because milk does a body good.

**Halo 2 was actually the happiest and brightest of the Halo trilogy. It introduced a lot of new characters, and no good guys died.**In Halo 3 all of our beloved characters were killed off.

H3 probably was darkest from the original, the covenant were attacking earth, the flood made it to earth, cortana started rampancy after alone with the gravemind, the arby fighting on sanghelios, and chief was lost in space with a sorta rampant A.I. h2 set up for all this after hCE introduced chief, cortana, flood, halos and so on
