Halo 5 G at 360°: wishes, thoughts, beta and more

Hi everyone, I’m creatingn this thread to write down every thought of mine about H5G, write yours in the comments!

  1. My beta feedback:

First stage beta feedback (02 January 2015)

GAMEPLAY

-Sprint: it’s perfect, the idea of balancing it by not allowing player’s shields to recharge during the sprint is great, do not modify/remove it.

-Clambing: Great feature, I always wanted it in Halo since Halo 3 :slight_smile: do not modify/remove it.

-Smart Scope: I had some problems in this feature in the first matches, then I learned to use it, it doesn’t change from the old zoom we’re used to, it’s great, the return of descope is also great, I just want flinching to be removed.

-Ground Pound: It’s ok, I like it, it’s not so Over Power as everybody thought, most of the time I use it I die in bad ways XD do not modify/remove it.

-Spartan Charge: Same of “Ground Pound”.

-Air Stabilize: I don’t use it, but to me it is the same if this feauture will be or not in the final product. If a spartan is using it, it will be easier for me to kill him.

-Slide: it’s kinda cool, and sometimes useful, I like it.

-Thruster Pack: it adds pepper to the game! it’s awesome how this game is fast, and this is thanks to the thruster pack! I LOVE IT! do not modify/remove it.

-Kill Cam: awful, why the hell you try to get this into Halo every time??? it’s awful! Absolutely remove the Kill Cam. And do never retry to get that into Halo.

-Respawn: sometimes I spawn in front of the enemies, that should not happen. fix it.

-Keep friendly fire off in every matchmaking playlist :slight_smile: (you could give us an option to activate it in custom games)

AUDIO

-Hit Detection Sound: give us an option to remove it. it covers the awesome weapons sounds…


-Italian Dubbing (VERY IMPORTANT):
----Power Weapons-
1)at the start of the match the speaker calls them “armi energetiche” (“energy weapons”? really?)
2)in the game description they are called “armi potenziate” (“powered up weapons”, wrong transation again)
3)when the spartans say that power weapons are spawend they are called “armi potenti” (“powerful weapons”, wrong again… and this is very weird in italian)
you must re-dub “Power Weapons” as “Armi Speciali”, please, it’s very important.
----Energy Sword-
In Halo 2/3/Reach/4 the energy sword is always been translated as “Lama Energetica” that is very iconic and cool
for italian Halo fans. when spartans speak of it they call it “spada”… it’s awful
you must re-dub “Energy Sword” as “Lama Energetica” for Spartan Chatter, VERY VERY IMPORTANT.


-Spartan Chatter: It’s great, keep it as it is. more voices needed. and maybe an option to choose the voice other players will hear.

-General opinion: the audio system is stunning, wonderful for both weapons/granades and spartan voices, and both near/ far of the player. GJ!

VIDEO

-Lightning: very well done, but some shadows are serrated, I’m looking forward for the final product’s lights!

-Weapons icons: absolutely necessary: when you could grab a weapon from the ground in the past games there was an icon representing that weapon, we need that back.

-Match Intro/Outro: it’s awesome, absoulutely keep it. (maybe some different animation versions? :slight_smile: )

-General Opinion: although the beta runs on 720p it looks amazing. and some textures are not finished I guess. I want so much to see how the game will look in the final version!

MATCHMAKING

-sometimes in the lobby it is impossible to turn off the voices of the other players, but you can still turn them off later in game, it would be preferable to a “mute all” option in the lobby, or in the overall options

-it is very fast, and the last update fixed the bugs it had. Perfect.

WEAPONS

-SMG: nerfing is not necessary as everybody says

-Pistol’s Scoping: I’d like a slightly higher zoom and a slightly bigger “sight” (?)

-Prophet’s Bane: it’s too shiny, I can’t see very well the map.

OTHERS

-K/D Ratio: it is wrong, it should be total kills/total deaths

-Spartan Customization: we need a red that is RED! not PINK!

-Physics: maybe the best physics I’ve ever seen in a videogame!

BUGS

-(not sure of this) maybe sometimes when you zoom with the sniper rifle the visual goes into the rifle’s 3D model for a very very short period of time before becoming the real
aiming

-sometimes HUD disappears for short time (maybe this was because the lag)

-it looks like pelicans and phantoms have a lower fps ratio

-sometimes the victory/defeat outro is obscured (the screen turns black)

-some shadows have to be corrected: check this link

-when a player is in the after-match lobby there is this bug: check this link

-physics bug for dead bodies: check this link

Second beta stage feedback (08 January 2015)

AUDIO

Italian Dubbing:
-Energy Sword on new maps: sometimes the energy sword is correctly dubbes as “Lama Energetica” but we still need you to remove that awful “Spada”

MATCHMAKING

it would be nice if you add a “silence all players by defaut” option

WEAPONS

-looks like Prophets Bane has a shorter range than the classic Energy Sword

-BR: classic BLUE lights on “remaining shots” please…

MAPS

-Regret: fix collision on most of the map

-Maps remixes: that’s not cool… not even a bit. I want more differences between maps, please.

-Breakout is very cool. I’m not gonna play it very much in the full version because I’m a btb addicted guy, but it’s a cool game type.


Final Beta Stage feedback (18 January 2015)

GAMEPLAY

-Sprint: sometimes when I press the sprinting button sprint doesn’t start or doesn’t work properly

-Weapons switch: it’s too slow, maybe make it fast as Halo 3 (the game is fast, so I think weapons switch should be fast)

MATCHMAKING

-Lobby: when I’m in the lobby and I want to enter in a player’s menu (service record, silence player ecc…) I can’t move through that menu, it works just after the first time I try to use it.

-AR/pistol starts: love it.

MAPS

-Forge maps are very cool, they barely look as forge made maps

-Strongholds game type is awesome.

-others-

-Recon controls scheme plays perfectly, do not modify/remove it (if you want everybody happy, give us customizable controls but keep the preset schemes please.)

-solution for quitters (I hate quitters) -> Join in progress needed. (but only if the match is less than 3/4 completed)
I want to compliment myself with 343 for the awesome work they’ve done, please consider my feedback, I love this game, and I’m so sad I’ll have to wait almost one year to play it again. keep the great work!

  1. After beta modifications:

this part is about the update 343 gave us somemonths ago about the after beta modifications for H5:

A- Modify Ground Pound controls to prevent conflicts w/ crouch jumping

that’s ok, my only concern is… how should you modify this on Recon controls scheme??? Recon was perfect as it was in the beta, if you’re going to do this with Recon too you must avoid these buttons for ground pound:

A/B/X/Y → because it would be impossible to turn myself with RS if I’m pressing one of those…
LB → because I use it for thrusters
RB → because I use it for reloading
Rt/Lt → used for shooting/launch granades
RS → used for smart scope

the only remaining buttons are the directional arrow keyes, you culd put ground pound on the “down arrow”
but I’d prefer to have an option to choose beetween

a) only ground pound with same Recon control scheme we had in the beta (no crouch jumping)
b) ground pound and crouch jumping according to the last modifications (w/ down arrow as ground pound)

B- Post-death replay: this will become an opt-in feature. After death, players will see a traditional follow-cam and have the option to view a replay of their death from the killer’s perspective (as long as the feature is enabled within the playlist)

the killcam is a noob way to spot hidden enemies, you must remove it.

C- Adding highlights to placed/dropped weapons to make them easier to see

I didn’ understand this very well:

a) if this means we’ll get the old icons to grab weapons from the ground it is perfect

b) if this means weapons will be signed as in H2A multiplayer it is not a necessary improvement and we still need the old icons back.

I hope you’re gonna remove flinching while keeping descope
and I’m happy for all others improvements, great work after all.

Please 343, keep the old dubbers for italian language too: – “(?)” → this question mark means that I don’t know if that character will appear in Halo 5

Also, the translation for “Energy Sword” must be “Lama Energetica” as always, it must never be “Spada/Spada Energetica”, and the translation for “Power Weapons” must be “Armi Speciali”.

4)Soundtracks

I’d like H5’s soundtracks to not be like this one from Halo 4 but like these great ones you’ve done yet: H5 Beta menu & H5 animated poster (awesome!)

5)Both firefight and Spartan Ops:

Spartan Ops: H4’s Spartan Ops were silly… “go there and press that button, let’s se what happens” (let’s see what happens???) , “kill’ em all” “other enemies incoming” “press that button and enemies will stop arriving” seriously??? that was seriously weird… and it had something like 10/15 maps where you could play, it was odd to “conquest” the same areas 5 thousands times… so I think H5’s Spartan Ops must be like this:

-Single player-> the number of enemies is balanced like campaign levels, if enemies have heavy weapons or are big enemies (like hunters) you must have some weapon or vehicle to use against them (in Halo 4’s Spartan Ops you’re always fighting hunters without the right weapon…)

-More than one player- 2 players-> enemies x2 - 3 players enemies x3 - 4 players enemies x 4

-Respawn- Halo 5’s Spartan Ops must have checkpoints like Campaign levels, respawn is awful, I found it like an excuse to not balance the levels…

-I’ve been able to play Halo Spartan Assault/Strike at one of my friend’s place and I can surely say that their campaign is better than Spartan Ops

Firefight: add the possibility to choose the enemy between Covenant/Flood/Promethean (Flood must be there although you decide/decided to not insert them in campaign)

slayer -> 4v4 slayer

big team battle -> 8v8 slayer

team objective -> 4v4 objective

snipers -> 4v4 snipers (no pistol, no granades)

swat -> 4v4 swat

flood -> 9 humans v 3 floods (shotguns and pistols)

action sack -> 4v4/8v8

race -> 8 players

multi-team -> 4 teams (3 players each team)

“competitive” -> 4v4 [no spartan abilities -> for who doesn’t like them ( basic Halo )]

rumble pit -> ffa 8 players

grifball -> 4v4

firefight -> 5 players (I’d love to get firefight back!)

spartan ops -> 5 Players

campaing -> 4 players

  • no all-snipers in btb
  • no objectives in non-objectives playlists
  • it would be awesome to keep these playlists forever :smiley:

  1. Features I’d love to be there:
  • flood:

—>there should be all the Halo 3 flood forms + flood-jackals, flood-grunts and flood-drones

—>flood should have animated plague bubos as in halo 3 and other animated parts of the body (eg when the human combat form runs the head goes like “up/down” because it dangles on the flood’s right shoulder)


  • brutes:

—>put in the game all of the brutes weapons/vehicles we know, and maybe something new

—>brutes should look like halo 2a (very hairy)


>please add the revenant, the spectre, new forerunners vehicles, drones, huragoks, skirmishers, sentinel beam, hornet and all Halo Wars vehicles

>please keep the old weapon’s aesthetic as it was before (I’m worried for the H5’s Spartan Laser because of the HCS season 2 animated intro with that white spartan laser…)

>please give us the possibility to forge firefight maps

>add daytime and weather to forge (snow would be amazing)

>vegetation must be animated as in Halo 3 (check this video on youtube - at 3:58) and not as in Halo 4!

>do never show Chief’s face.

In your first post you mention flinch. There is no flinch, it was just a graphical bug that made it look like you were flinching.

I remember reading sometime ago they removed flinching, this thread is a copy/pasted collection of all my old threads about H5 :slight_smile:

I forgot this: please 343 add the Halo Wars’s Spartan Armor to the customization, please!
