Halo 5 Forge World

What do you guys think about a new Forge World map being added into Halo 5? I don’t want just a blank map like what 343 has been doing. An actual forge world with terrain and everything. I wouldn’t mind if they just remade Forge World from Reach just as long as they add in a new Forge World. So what do you guys think?

As a long time forger that’s had several maps picked up for MM, including in the Arena and Proving Ground playlists, I prefer the canvasses to be blank. Having to work around preexisting terrain is a chore and it crowds the designers work space.

That said, I hope they give us better terrain pieces than what was offered in TMCC. Actual flat pieces of varying sizes would be nice, especially if they had different textures and weren’t paper thin like the grass plain.

tbh im not an amazing forger and i still can’t get spawning to work how i want and no one ever explains it well, but i want new pieces, maybe even just the same basic pieces but covenant terrain not just the minecraft block shaped human/forerunner buildings and add some color

I recently started dabbling in Forge and from a 3D designer’s perspective (I create 3D animations for an NFL team’s scoreboard), I think it would be nice if they offered more palette designs, such as having Human styled building blocks, Covenant, and Forerunner.

Adding the ability to “group” certain structures (such as a custom tunnel) to allow for easy duplication. Or better yet, allow a symmetry option that creates a mirror opposite to allow for easier symmetrical map creation with custom objects.

This one might be niche, but it would be cool if it had the ability to create a top down view of the map, similar to how each map in MCC has before each match. That would be pretty neat.

I’m pretty new to Forge, so I’m sure there are some trick I could still learn that would help me out. But those are my first impressions.

Something I haven’t seen mentioned for forge world is the ability to carve out a block (or certain size circle, square, rectangle, triangle, or various polygons) from a block, flat, object, etc. That would be neat for wall textures or holes to look through, or drop down points to another level on the map. It could be for creating a hole in the ground to drop down to a level below it, or not completely going through the texture, but allowing it to “indent” or leave an “impression” on the wall with that shape. Unique shapes could be created while using only one piece of material. Just a thought.

a forge world would be restrictive…

I think a forge world, along with some blank canvases would be sublime.

Back in the Reach days, Forge World allowed people to create gametypes and maps that were almost like full blown adventures.

Personally I like the blank canvasses as opposed to the preset forge world.

I’d love for their to be several types though!!! Such as a covenant themed one, snow, desert, rock/trees. Although I’m not asking for all of them, personally the space maps never bothered me too much but hey, stick that in their as well for good measure.

Oh and we need an undo button for forge please!!! I don’t know how many times I’ve moved something and had to re position it… quite annoying.

I’m more concerned with adding features such as group duplication, undo, and more diverse textures than a creatively limiting (albeit delightfully large) Forge World.

Give us Forge world 2.0, with a remix that is just the skybox for that map. That way, if players do not want to use all their budget on terrain they can use the pre built ground. Also give us multiple environments such as dessert,tundra,forest, island. Plus don’t restrict certain objects to maps, if I want a snow terrain piece in the dessert like me do it.

Ps. please give us time of day and weather effects.

When faced with such decisions, the answer is simple: more options.

Blank canvas maps are great! Having diverse, preexisting terrain to work around is great! Have both. In all honestly, Forge World’s only shortcoming was that it was too small. The diverse terrain it offered to build around was excellent. All it really needs is for more of the level geometry to be properly fleshed out and its death walls pushed away.

That being said, there are numerous other untapped possibilities for Forge…

Palettes-- for terrain and objects: Snow, desert, grass. Human, Covenant, Forerunner.
Undo/Redo
Grouping

In short, put in everything possible into Forge.

Yes bring back the entire forge world again. Also have some skybox’s as blank canvas and the 3 size forge island. And one like awash but with the water deep and more real looking. I made cool maps in reach where you would be just under the water at times but just a tad lower you would die. The water should look real like in H3. Dont work against us 343 work with us!

I just want Pelicans and Phantoms in Forge and then I’ll be happy. I’d be even happier if they also included Seraphs and Broadswords for space maps

I would love a forge world like the one in Halo: Reach… If they had one like that but about the size of Skyrim, I’d pay another $60 dollars for that. It would be a whole game itself. Halo: FORGE

if you want to see one of the already completed forge world style maps currently in game,

do a custom solo game on orion or pegasus,

play for like 5 seconds or 10 seconds.

exit and go to theater

watch your 5-10s video and pause.

go into free camera mode and you are now free to explore one of the current maps.
