Currently Halo 5 Forge doesn’t support text chat in lobbies, which makes it difficult for people to communicate and let each other know what they would like to play. So this guide is for discord, which supports voice chat. However, most steps applies even if you’re not using discord.

Step 1: Go to https://discord . gg/GkKQMvD (without the spaces) and click the blue button to accept the invitation.

Step 2: On the left side of the page, scroll down to the voice channels labeled “[PC] Game Chat #(Number)”.

Step 3: Open the Xbox app on your computer and click on the first icon at the top right, which should be the friends list.

Step 4: Click on the search field where it says “Find People” and type down one of the gamer tags that you can see under one of the voice chats on discord, and hit enter.

Step 5: Click “Add Friend”

Step 6: Join them using one of the following methods, each work in different situations, so keep that in mind:

Method 1: Once you have added them in the Xbox app, you might get the option to join them through the same page.

Method 2: Open up Halo 5 Forge and click where it says “Friends”, or hit the F key. Then on the screen that opens, click friends and wait until they appear. Once they do, click on their name and if you got the option, click join.

Method 3: Same as method 2, but if you don’t get the option to join, click gamercard. A new window should appear and you should see the option to join, click that twice. This method seems to work in most cases.

Method 4: If you’re unable to join and receive the message that you need an invite. You can send a message to the person that you added as a friend and ask for an invite, or join the discord voice chat and ask directly (see Step 7).

Step 7: On discord, click the game chat that you wanted to join and you’ll be connected to the voice chat.
You can disable your mic if you want, and you could even mute everyone’s voices as well. It might seem pointless to join in that case, but it’s useful to know how many are in a lobby and it will make more people join. Also, if the in game lobby gets filled up, people usually kicks those who are not in the voice chat.
