Halo 5 Forge: Install location??

Hey so I’ve started my download of Halo 5: Forge on PC today and it was all going fine, but it (by default) installed to my SSD which I only use for my Windows 10 OS and general files (My Documents, Pictures etc).
Because of this my SSD storage has been used up 99%, so it asked me to pick a new storage device due to this one not having enough space (only 25GB into the download, thanks for that -_- ) and when I started the download again to the HDD drive that I initially wanted it to install to, it didn’t remove the installed content on my SSD and I can’t find a way to remove it. I can’t even find the location that it downloaded to. Is there a way that I can remove this please?

<mark>Mod edit: Moved to forge support</mark>

The install is somewhere in the Drive:\Program Files\WindowsApps. I’m not sure exactly what file though

Try the forge forum.

Did you get the location? i’ve stumbled upon the same problem and im so pissed right now-.-?

I noticed a massive 36gb folder pop up at this location C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DeliveryOptimization

Try running Disk Cleanup tool and choose the clean up system files option. It’s possibly temporarily stored so your PC could share the data with other users. I also had about 10 GB of delivery optimization files after installing the app.

https://privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10-windows-update-delivery-optimization

The C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DeliveryOptimization has the data, although it isn’t in a usable form.

Seriously took me forever to even find this, WTF Microsoft. Why can’t you just put files in a folder of my choice like a normal goddamned person.

is 343 asleep? i sorta need this fix to be a thing. My SSD is running low because of the same reasons (even with clean up). Make a proper folder path for installation selectable, it’s basic coding guys…

343 doesn’t seem to be using their own forum. They use reddit however.

If you open the start menu and search for storage, you can change which drive windows apps install to. On the drive, there should be a folder called WindowsApps, which contains the apps.

I found the location and for me its here with the .exe file but for some reason I cant open it
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Halo5Forge_1.131.5612.2_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe

||WolfyGaming|| is probably correct.

You will have to change permission levels on the windowsapps folder to access it, however. Then if you don’t make those permissions recursive throughout the entire directory underneath, you will have to modify the permissions on each item inside the folder as well.

In Windows 10 (and probably 8.1) you can change where ALL windows apps are initially installed (Settings–>System—>Storage). Then you can go back and move them through “apps and features” later. Or once you free up the space from the current failed download, you can free up some more space by moving apps and the reinstall halo on your ssd.

This may not be a recommended way to go about this and please don’t hold me responsible for changing permissions on the windowsapps folder.

Yeah this is how I ended up doing it, I changed it through Apps and Features since Halo: Forge appeared on that list with an uninstall button.

Still pretty badly laid out if you ask me, way more complicated than it needs to be.

lol I cant even find windows apps its not even there and I have all the games available on the halo app include forge… =(
HELP! I just need the forge exe file so I can use ultra-mon and finally have a decent 16:3 UWS gaming experience with Halo 5, a game I both love and fear…

I found an install directory: C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Halo5Forge_8wekyb3d8bbwe

about 29.7gb in total.

Edit: that’s 29.7MB, not GB.

still looking

OMG u are so awesome! I’m hoping to use the .exe and use it with ULTRAMON, OR edit the config.ini file (wherever in the galaxy that is) and type in my custom resolution for all 3 screens = 3600x1280p@60Hz I can make my Halo 5 dreams come true lol
-THANK U :alien::+1:

UPDATE: Sadly I don’t even have a folder called AppData

AppData is is a hidden folder. You can set explorer to show hidden files and folders or you can just browse directly to it by typing in explorer’s address bar. Alternative hit Windows + R and type in the folder path then press enter, should take you straight to it

Yeah i just found it i think. of course first i had to add the right permissions to access the folder because administrator alone wont cut it. you need full access to do anything more than read and execute 1 or 2 files. even the sound files have a lock icon on them. however when you open file explorer make sure hidden files is enabled then for me the folder is named Microsoft.Halo5Forge_0.000.0000.0_x64__0xxxxx0x0xxxx

(i cut out the numbers and digits i case it is sensitive information by any means otherwise the X’s are Letters and the 0’s are numbers for me)

so the file path should look something like this:

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Halo5Forge_0.000.0000.0_x64__0xxxxx0x0xxxx\

if mine is at all similar you should have 8 folders and 18 other files or 26 items in total

Just so you all are aware try not to mess with anything that have locks on them which is the majority of the files a lot of it is technical mumbo jumbo and coding for the game. if you can, try mess with any of it.

folder names are as such so if you see these folders you are in the right spot:
cms
AppxMetadata
bink
datamine
deploy
maps
sound
uwp
