Halo 5 Forge Ideas (Feel free to add on)

Ok, so we all know Halo 5 will be released for the 3rd generation Xbox, so we can go a little crazy on ideas here.

-Forge needs to take place on Halo

I really liked the ideas that Certain Affinity put into place. Three forge environments for certain themes, however, the only time in Halo 4 that Halo was actually mentioned was on the Composer Level. So let’s say Ravine, Impact and Erosion were in Halo 5.

-Ravine can have the classic Halo going around like in the older games
-Impact can be right outside the Halo ring, meaning it’s there which creates a cool asthetic look.
-Erosion would be deep within the layers of the ring, since Forerunners built their installations that way.

-Bring back the opportunities Reach created

Now the maps aren’t bad, I like all of the forge environments, but in Forge World you had big open plains for some creative constructing (aka Blood Gulch) and also had shores to create some cool custom maps like storm the beach.

-Weather Effects
FX was the closest we have gotten. We used purple to create night time environments, it’s time we set some basic effects like morning, midday, noon, and night. Also, precipitation effects would be welcome too.

-Skins

Now, if you take a forge piece like Wall, Collosseum from Halo 4, it’s a reskinned version of the Reach version, giving it a cool UNSC look. Now, if we cant set skins like Human, Covenant, or Forerunner you can build a lot of moods. Covenant would be great instead of the stale looking ships I saw in Reach. They were good, but they weren’t given a lot of options to create mood.

-Triggers

Pretty self explanatory, place doors that are activated by triggers, and a set of customization options. Would be nice to bring back similar memories of Halo 3’s High ground.

-Glue

So we have the magnet system which make forge a helluva lot easier. I love it personally, but a glue system should also be added. For example, I attach two forge pieces via glue and set the physics to normal, which cause the pieces to act normal but stay attached. (The main reason for this is an idea I had in Reach, it will make sense later).

-Copy and Paste
Selecting multiple parts are using a Halo Wars like selection to select objects and weapon placements to perform perfect replications.

-Timed physics change

So how cool would it be if you can make a building change from “fixed” to “normal” 30 seconds in a custom game? Or set it up via trigger? In Reach I planned to create a frigate that would crash with the core on the ship for the Covenant to snatch. This goes with the glue idea. If you can glue all these pieces together and set the trigger to set to normal in phase 3 (even though Invasion doesn’t exist anymore) that would make a sick map.

-Destruction
Set Resistance and destruction levels for parts.

Let’s take wall collosseum for example. I can enable destruction which can be affected by grenades to make dents and even destroy the wall completely. Now, it can set it’s resistance to how much damage it can take before it starts to break.

-Vegetation
Not expecting something big, but putting down something other than rocks would be nice. Let’s say, trees. You could do it on Ridgeline, the DLC map.

-----------------------------CUSTOM GAME OPTIONS---------------------------

-Classic Infection

I like the new infection, I really do but it destroys the possibility of the cool maps like fat boy, speed halo, garbage man, etc.

-Disabling Sprint

I remade Lava pit for Halo 4, all my friends enjoy it but unfortunately some people use sprint to cheat a little. If you don’t know what it is, the goal is to knock enemy players using warthogs, mongooses, ghosts, and even wraiths that spawn in later. Now the speed you run at is really slow to get you to stay in your vehicle, but some people push it now that they have sprint.

-Just some ideas. Can’t wait to see what you guys have to say.

im not trolling but i wont care about halo 5 forge until halo 4 is fixed…

I posted a poll about the next halo 4 forge map added thru DLC

it can be found here

Personally, I was never a fan of forge world. The concept was great but the results were bad. The frame rate issues from all the rendering were atrocious and the pallet was very bland.

Can’t forget gravity wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to make it when the king is killed in regicide or something like that you walk on the roof until another king is chosen it would allow for some crazy custom games.

I read the forum and voted. Definitely agree with a Avalanche type map. Also, I got a few more ideas.
-Manual Light regeneration

Its pretty annoying that every time you go to player mode it re-gens. Would be a lot better to re-gen manually from start menu.

Love all of it, especially triggers, destruction, glue, and vegetation. One of the only things I was disappointed by in Halo 4 is that the seem to have missed some opportunities to greatly expand Forge (don’t get me wrong, magnets and duping are INCREDIBLE additions, but I honestly liked the Reach objects and Forge World better)

Triggers have been on my “Halo 5 Forge wishlist” as well. I suggested not only buttons, but pressure-plates/“zones” that would trigger stuff as well.

To expand on vegetation, more “natural” options altogether. Perfectly flat, grid-sized grassy and rocky plain pieces, for instance. Also, “hills”. And more rock types, right now it’s basically a dozen rocks that are almost exactly the same, and two big ones (and one is weird-shaped)

The ONLY way I’m buying the next Halo game is if the forge has a large empty pallet with a terrain editor. Why they didn’t have that in this game, when they knew Far Cry 3 would put their map editor to shame, is beyond me. They would rather sell DLC maps today than establish a loyal community for the coming years. 343 is trash.

I somehow doubt that 343 has the wherewithal to actually meet your requests. You might simply want to pick up Far Cry 3 for it’s editor or wait to see what Bungie delivers with Destiny. This community placed numerous threads of wish lists for Halo 4 and you cans see what you got. None of it except magnets, lighting, and some trait editors.

But like buying the lottery ticket it’s fun to imagine the possibilities.

Love your ideas. Maybe pressure plates can be a player trait thing, or a completely separate forge thing. And yes, reach forge world gave us a million opportunities.

I totally agree with you. Problem is they want to establish something that really Halo, and not something someone else made. Sad I know, but its true. Trust me, I’ve played countless Halo CE mods and thats what keeps me playing the game even today. hce.halomaps.org and you’ll see what I mean. Now, with Halo forge, when you save a map the game only memorizes the pieces that were placed, and when you load a map it takes your existing map and loads the piece locations from the file. If you played a far cry type map, you would need a lengthy download. Cool idea, but it would take a hell of a lot of persuasion.

Forge will just be more limited in Halo 5 at this rate.

> Forge will just be more limited in Halo 5 at this rate.

I don’t expect them to do all of this, but they at least need to put forge on a halo, because that’s what the game is about.

But mostly what I really want from the new forge is precipitation. Nice to have rain and heavy winds etc.

Here’s an idea:
How about a PC program that is sold separately but essentially allows players to forge on the computer. The program would be a dedicated map editor; you wouldn’t actually play on the PC except maybe to test aspects of the map. Making a map design on a computer would be much faster and more precise and could allow for many other features such as an undo button and multiple select tool that would be difficult to incorporate on the Xbox. It would be like a CAD program, similar to FPS Creator but specifically for Halo. The maps could then be easily uploaded to the Xbox.
Any feedback on this idea?
