The other thread that discusses this topic completely misconstrues the quote and takes it the wrong way. The quote states the following
> Throughout all of our connected experiences we’ve embraced dedicated servers, which we use to run our Co-op campaign and multiplayer experiences (including custom games).
This does not state that Forge and Custom Games will require an online connection to play them by yourself. It actually outlines that dedicated servers run the CO-OP and MULTIPLAYER experiences, not the solo experience. The quote does not say "A connection is required to play solo campaign and Non-Multiplayer custom games and Forge, saying otherwise is putting words in Josh Holmes mouth. So please, stop freaking out over something that does not exist and has no bearing. Please do not pull “facts” out of thin air.

Forge is very much a multiplayer mode, but unlike arena and Warzone, there is an option to play it solo. You also reiterated my main post, he did not specify if forge or customs required an internet connection, nor did he imply that was the only way to play them, but for some reason almost everybody else seemed to think he meant the opposite.

Like…the guy asked if all multiplayer experiences require online to play, worded or not, I seem to be the only one who understands what the question said
343industries just keeps shooting themselves in the foot such as no co-op split screen and such…

No they’re not shooting themselves in the foot, just weeding out all the technophobes who are afraid of advances and won’t let old habits die.

The problem is that they are stating the negatives without/before explanation of the benefit that goes along with it.

In no way does “multiplayer experiences” include solo play, somebody decided they wanted to cause controversy and conflict so they misconstrued the words, and everyone blindly followed.
People who believed the thread saying forge requires an internet connection are shooting themselves in the feet by not looking at facts, and believing anything stated on the internet.
They are clearing the air as to how the game will work. This is not stating negatives, it’s peoples’ opinions that turn them into negatives (even if they aren’t) such as what Josh Holmes said. Anytime you play with someone online on Halo 5, you will be on a dedicated server, that’s a good thing. But people looked at it a different way and perceived it as a negative, which it isn’t.

Maybe but there’s no way to know if Forge can be done solo. I’m not sure what to think of all of this. Just hope it’s not online only.

Assuming anything like that honestly just isnt logical. Its almost like me saying that Halo 5 is only going to work if you have a verizon fios connection. I can also say that there’s no way to know if it isnt true. Its just very illogical to think that way. Assumptions are typically wrong, and this case it is wrong.

Careful trying to use logic on waypoint is like trying to stop a flowing river with a bucket.

Aren’t you just assuming that we DON’T need to be connected online to use forge? Not trying to start an argument, but you seem like you’re doing the very thing you’re speaking against. It’s perfectly logical to wonder if we need to be connected to online servers at all times to use forge, since it’s never been answered by anyone from 343 themselves.

Honestly, its more of an educated observation rather than an assumption. The whole controversy of “will forge and customs require an online connection to play” was only even conceived from the lack of understanding a person had for information given to him. Nobody would have thought about that “possibility” without his misunderstanding. Assuming that the whole situation was even possible, one must also assume that campaign cant be played without being connected to the internet, even while solo. Now tell me, how little sense does that make? There’s a saying, “Making a mountain out of a molehill”, this situation is “Making a mountain out of flat plains nowhere near a fault line.”
If forge singleplayer doesn’t require a connection, doesn’t that mean that there’d be two forges in the menus?
One for singleplayer forge
One for multiplayer forge
