Halo 5 forge different than Halo 4?

We’ve all been waiting for forge news, and hopefully we’ll get some soon. I’m just speculating whether there WILL be huge news about forge, or anything else really, other than some little extra stuff here and there.

In this video, about 49:50 in, Josh and Tim get asked whether they have new “mind-blowing” reveals to show about Halo 5, and judging by their response, it doesn’t seem like it. Seems like Warzone and the “coop” campaign were their biggest news.

(Sorry, don’t know how to post a link directly to the time.)

So, in speculation, that might mean forge won’t be all that different than in Halo 4. Again: this is just speculation, I’m not writing it off as fact or anything.

What do you guys think? Maybe respond with what you’d like to see in forge, as well?

My wish list is

  • Pelicans - Legendary Weapons/skins - All the vehicles from Halo Wars - Forge World from Reach

Should be on par with H2A or better

Ai Spawning

I agree. H2A was good stuff.

I hope the reveal is way better. The h2a forge reveal was kinda weak. At first that reveal was cool cause you couldnt believe all that they built and the switches were cool but in game too much pieces placed just cause framerate issues.

So if they reveal and say that they fixed system limitation and that they added so much more unique then i will be very happy. I just want way better terrain pieces or a terrain editor with tons more pieces to mess with. we will see.

True. I admit, I haven’t played enough with H2A forge enough to notice any problems really, just a bit a messing around. Halo Reach’s forge was king, in my opinion. Especially compared to the recent iterations.

My thoughts exactly. I liked what H2A brought to forge.

I would take a H2A Forge. All I’d need are the new blocks we saw in the Beta’s Forge maps, the ability to place down every Req variant of a vehicle or weapon, and good custom game support and options.

Also, in the video it sounded like they were trying to think of something to say because they couldn’t reveal anything. I don’t think they sounded like they didn’t have anymore surprises.

I think they do have more surprises, but nothing that big. More on par with “flag juggling.” Little things like that. Other wise, I think they would have hyped it. Just like they hyped warzone, if you were following the small video teases of this “new” gametype before they revealed it completely. Or how they were really hyping up the opening cinematic for Halo 5.
That being said, H2A was great with the little I’ve played with it. Going to spend some more time with it soon and really get a feel for it and develop an actual opinion.

They say that the new forge is a huge improvement and not just another iteration with a few changes.

It is speculated that time of day may be changeable. Lots of new forge props.

Cool to know. Guess we’ll see when they finally reveal it.

Reach did have a great forge but i liked what they were trying to do with h2a. The terrain pieces looked like they were adding a lot to the game but really didnt do much. The terrain pieces had to be used a specific way for them to work and there werent very many. But yeah if you placed to many pieces or certain pieces it would cause framerate issues and would break the lighting.

While what the did looked promising there were still plenty of issue. I just hope they fix a lot of issues and that forge will shine this time around. I just want a lot of terrain/foliage stuff. Like i want maps to look more distinct and i hope they have different ground textures like snow, dirt, grass, rock and more. like being able to choose what you want to build on or a theme.

My expert guess is that there will be a Win10 forge app, that will allow you to create and upload maps from your PC if you would like to…

Not a bad idea actually, but highly doubtful. Who knows though, Microsoft is known for doing unpredictable things.

AI spawning please !

For all I’m concerned, Forge can otherwise remain untouched from H2A. All I want is AI spawning. That’s it. Something that will allow me to simulate an offline Firefight mode, since I won’t be getting that from the always online Warzone.

And honestly, Halo is on next-gen hardware now. From a technological standpoint, there’s no excuse for this feature not being implemented.

Forge loses half it’s potential value if there’s no file-share/file-browser. At least half.

The question is, will there be a file-share/browser in H5 or will 343 finally squash the forge community once and for all?

There will probably be one.

Forge reveal is supposed to be coming this week sometime. Frank O’Connor has said on NeoGAF that Forge in Halo 5 has significant changes rather then the iterative changes from previous Halo titles. That from that what you will, but it seems like Forgers may be in for a treat.
