yeah no. h5 doest even have a story that should be continued. its story its nothing more than a disgrace to the series? and what does spartan ops do with 5? the main villan from ops is killed in a cutscene in the very first mission. and what body did h5 had?
man h5 kids really will hate on anything thats not 5. i really happy that h5 worst story is just discarded.
H5 doesnt have the same story telling as 2. if it were it would have been loved by many…
Atriox is alive. Tf you smoking?
idk man ask people which halo game has a better story? h5 or infinite
The original script of Halo 5 is 117x times better than the Fanfiction that we received from Brian Reed back in 2015.
His rewrite made most of the points brought up in the books, Spartan-Ops, Escalations, Nightfall, and Hunt-the-Truth into moot points that were a waste of time to invest in.
I restored the original script of Halo 5 to the best of my abilities if you want to see how the game WAS going to be like until Brian Reed rewrote it to be a fanfiction.
Literally that is what Halo 5 is - fanfiction made canon.
Cool OCs that rival the main character in levels of “coolness” for the sake of being cool.
The Cool OCs are joined by the favorite character that the fan-fic writer liked from the series because they like him/her so much - Edward Buck.
The Cool OCs take up most of the story while the main character of the series is sidelined.
Characters make illogical choices for no good reason other than “the story needs to go form A to B and I didn’t write a good segway so BS must be written”.
Characters don’t act like themselves. Locke is cold and distant, Buck’s charisma is held back, John is naive until the last mission, Linda and Kelly are swapped for some reason, and Cortana is no longer sassy but is now a manipulative sociopath tyrant.
You can literally sum up the story that Brian Reed gave us as “Master Chief has gone rogue to chase after his A.I. “girlfriend”, but now she is an evil tyrant because reasons. So my cool Spartan OCs and Nathan Fillion go to save him and Blue Team from the evil lady. Look how awesome my characters are!”
You only got to play as Blue Team 3 out of 15 chapters, which is much worse than the last time Halo did a dual-perspective narrative story. Halo 2 let you play as John for 8 chapters and Arbiter for 6. And given that they had to scrap missions from the campaign as well as the final act, it was probably going to be even closer to even at 9/9 chapters each.
You want to see how Halo 5 COULD’VE been?
Here you go. My investigation in the development of Halo 5’s original script and my attempt at restoring the narrative -
Much better than Halo 4’s introduction of The Didact, who gets his characterization from the books.
Atriox was at least introduced in a MAJOR game and not a book.
What did you expect from a game that is an open-world game?
Open world games are all about exploration and discovery. It is what prevents the world from feeling too empty. Take away all the audio logs and all the extras, and you are left with a world that is bland and full of just errands with unanswered questions.
Halo Infinite’s development hassles with Covid had caused them to divide the story into three parts.
Part I was even stunted down compared to what they wanted and had to scrap a few things. For example, you cannot explore the North-East Islands to secure FOB India, Mike, or the rest up to Zulu like it was planned out earlier.
But Part I is just ACT I - Introduction and setup.
Part II is ACT II - The body.
Part III is ACT III - The conclusion.
Plus, we might be getting mini-story DLCs to prevent Master Chief’s story from being too cluttered. It would certainly be a better alternative to having books that only like 10% of us read.
I try not to make them long, but then most people make a ton of mistakes on what there defending, but want to ignore the major flaws with what there defending when comparing and contrasting to something they disregard as bad ; That when Im like, “ Yeah, here’s another long reply or post "
I’m not going to deny that Halo 5 had a great multiplayer, but the stats show that the best multiplayer by reception and population was Halo 3.
Halo 5 was another case of 343 trying to make Halo something it wasn’t.
Halo 4 copied CoD type Loadouts
Halo 5 added mobility-shooter aspects such as thrusters, infinite sprint, and crouch-sliding.
I don’t really mind the sprinting (except that shields don’t recharge while running) and sliding, but the thrusters made the game obnoxious for players trying to perform sniper or splatter kills.
I like that the Thruster is an equippable item that is a resource to be managed. It adds to the puzzle of the game. I have a sword? Great! Now my next goal is to get the Thruster to help me become more lethal with the blade.
Having the thruster be a default ability broke Halo 5 for me. Add in the Spartan Charge and Ground Pound, and you can instantly break someone’s shields and then pop them off with the magnum.
Was Halo 5’s Multiplayer great? Yes.
But it wasn’t the best I would say.
Yeah it was better when I wanted to have a more chill match.
And I stated why I don’t like the thrusters being on at default. All snipers have glare in Halo 5 and Infinite. But since everyone has a thruster in Halo 5, you could instantly change directions and dodge an incoming bullet.
Similar for when vehicles are coming in for a splatter. Jump and thruster to evade the warthog.

Only once. Then you have to wait for a cooldown.
It’s a single opportunity to juke out your opponent, and you’d rarely get to use it twice before one of you is killed.
To me it makes the most sense. In real life you are able to dodge things. Side step. Jump out the way really fast.
Spartans are efficient at everything so it makes even more sense that they would be able to dodge. Master chief once slapped a rocket so I think dodging Is something a Spartan should be able to do in game.
Idk. That was the fun for me. Being able to dodge and reengage. One of my favourite plays was when someone would throw a grenade and I would.jump off the ledge and hover and wait for the thrust to come back. Then I would thrust back on to the ledge avoiding the grenade damage entirely. It added a whole new level of skill for me
This game won’t be supported for 5 years much less 10. They had all of the opportunity in the world to really have Halo make a comeback with Vanguard and 2042 being rough, but they TOTALLY squandered that. This game will be kicked to the curb early for the release of the next thing 343 will ultimately screw up.
I completely agree with all of this! Don’t forget that Infinite’s art style is really a massive downgrade, especially with the beyond silly cosmetics that they’ve added. Spartans actually look like futuristic/26th century supersoldiers in Halo 5, but Halo Infinite Spartans? They don’t even look buff anymore - now they look like glorified 22nd century Power Rangers.
One of the many things I really enjoyed about Halo 5 is being able to play as Fred. Easily why I enjoy the co-op campaign in Halo 5, and that’s another major thing that Infinite is missing - co-op campaign.
Dodging is fine when it is manual movement.
When you have a thruster that lets you randomly change direction, it makes engagements awkward and you end up wasting ammo. Yes the person who dodged is evasive and evasive maneuvers are nice to have but the equipment being built into the character is my problem.
Take a look at Halo Reach. You have 7 armor abilities. You are trading one benefit for another when you choose to swap one out.
Do you want to be stealthy? Active Camo.
Do you want to get to the high ground more easily? Jet Pack.
Do you want to survive a rocket blast or a vehicular splatter? Armor Lock.
Do you want to help support your team by healing them while providing cover? Drop Shield.
Do you want to get around from A to B faster? Sprint.
Do you want to potentially distract enemies and make them waste ammo and time by shooting a decoy? Hologram.
Do you want evasive maneuvering enhancements? Evade.
Each of these are a trade-off of another ability’s benefits.
Without Sprint, you cannot beat someone to the next equipment; but you at least have an advantage elsewhere in the fight.
Without Drop Shield, you run a serious risk when in areas without cover.
Without Jet Pack, someone else beats you to the weapon spawn up-top because you had to go on foot the long way around.
Halo Infinite’s treatment of equipment abilities is best because you have to both keep the equipment out of enemy hands while utilizing it to the best of your abilities.
Grappleshot is a better Jet Pack.
Thruster Pack is smooth evasion.
Drop Wall is a mix between Bubble Shield and Deployable Cover.
Repulsor is something entirely new to shove people off the edge or get some distance from a sword/hammer player.
Deployable Sensor is something new that provides recon data for the entire team.
