Halo 5 Feels Better Than All Previous Titles

There have been many criticisms against Halo 5. But there are very few constructive arguments. Most are nostalgia-laden conservative rants like that of the ones done by grandfathers at Thanksgiving tables.

But let’s look at this objectively. On Halo 5, your Spartan feels finally like a Spartan. It feels strong, fast, and nimble like a super soldier. I always thought that Halo 4 could have been more but 343 got it right this time.

I played H2A and other titles and experienced how slow and too dogmatic of a gameplay previous titles had. It was still fun as hell but my goodness all I did was same old BR strafing for 2, 3, and 4.

Halo 5 is different. I did all the traditional Halo thing but I did more. And more is what newer games need. If I wanted to play the old, I would go back and play the old.

One flaw I should mention, however, is that all maps (except btb) should start off with AR/Magnum first. I abhor BR starts because 1) it warrants slower gameplay and 2) there’s no point controlling DMR or LR spawn locations.

Immersion™

Seriously though, the notion that Halo 5 is “faster” than previous games is entirely wrong. It may “feel” faster to you because of the “whoosh” effects that play while sprinting, but map sizes have been stretched and base movement speed has concurrently been lowered. Ultimately, the results in taking about the same amount of time to get across Truth at top speed as it took to get across Heretic or Midship at top speed.

What does that mean in the end? It means that, if anything, your Spartan is actually less capable. Now he/she cannot shoot while moving at said speed.

I did specify that it feels faster but did not mention ththat it is. The point is that the game allows more dynamic gameplay than previous ones and thereby provides better feeling. If I time game length between H5 and H2A, it’s very similar. Without sacrificing the pacing of traditional Halo games, the game managed to make it feel better. Also, Spartan does not have to be more capable. It only needs to feel more capable.

You feel faster is better?

Yes it does. The freedom of movement is much improved. The visual effects are also quite nice.

Open service record and see negative K/D ratio in MCC. That doesn’t mean your opinion doesn’t matter because it certainly does but it’s obvious you prefer Halo 5 because it is easier and has less of a skill gap. You like it more than the older games because the older games are kinda hard. Im in a similar boat. I like the older games because I’m good at them. Now I’m still pretty good at H5 but all those gimmicks makes the game easier.

I have similar kd in H5. Your argument is invalid.

The problem I’ve been having is the aim acceleration. Too low… so I try to slightly move my reticle, but it barely moves.’.

I honestly feel Halo 5 feels slower than previous halo titles to be honest. The base movement and sprint speed are lower than 3, 4, and Reach. As far as the overall game is concerned, to older players previous halos were far better games overall, thats the main reason that Reach and halo 3 still have decent population sizes even now.

i prefer halo 5s movement over all previous titles

by having a similar k/d you sir are the invalid

I agree with the OP. The first thing I noticed was that my Spartan actually feels like a super soldier now. He feels heavy and strong yet nimble and fast at the time. Most complainers here are just butthurt they haven’t got halo 2.5 yet. The past halos were great games and I have no idea how many days of my life I have invested in them but its time for something new and this game is just so much to me.
