Halo 5 Feedback

Hello, this is my feedback for matchmaking Halo 5.

I have both enjoyed and loathe playing Halo 5. Here are my praise and grievances about the game.
Praise:
It’s a fun game … when everything is running correctly
The different assassinations that are available.
The pace of matches.
Warzone is a fun addition to Halo, …when everything is working correctly

Grievances:
The Servers - As you are aware by now, the servers are not operating properly. I find it mildly funny when I try to access a playlist or start I get “Error joining Halo 5 Dedicated Servers”. The servers are so unreliable to the point where I typically have to play with an Ethernet connection to prevent lag, although it still could happen. Sometimes during a match, I would lag so badly, I would either lag out or be inactivate because I kept lagging back. The servers are also an issues in Warzone and with using Reqs. There have been several instances in Warzone, where I could not access a req, even if I wanted something simple as a BR. This would last throughout the match, making the game not fun. Sometimes when I am in the Menu, I cannot redeem or purchase (via points) req packs. I can understand that having req tied to the server to prevent unknown abuses, but being unable to open, view, or buy req in a menu should never happen while I am connected to the internet.

Req Pack - My only main problem is how reqs are received. I believe bronze reqs should always unlock common to uncommon items (if available) with a slim chance of a rare req. I hate having to grind to get 5000-10000 req points to get two uncommon emblems or armor. I believe what you receive should be fairer. Gold Req (especially if you grind) should give you rarer or better. There are times when I brought 4x bronze to get uncommons to only get back 100, 200 req points, and when I brought a silver pack, I got uncommon emblems and armor. I can understand that the system as it stand now, could generate revenue, but it kinda unfair to buy a req pack only to get an emblem. I would enjoy having weapons, armor, and emblem req seperated, but I can see how it would cut into revenue from req purchase.

Spartan Charge and hovering - I enjoy sprinting to assassinate someone or aiming from cover to shoot something. There should be option to completely turn these items off.

Big Team Battle - I do not know if it just me but CTF Basin is a nightmare. Usually the game time would have to run out for the match to end. CTF in Deadlock, AntiFreeze, have been funner to play than Basin. Basin , in my opinion, is way to big for a flag runner to return to base without being immediately spawned on by the enemy team.

BTB Stronghold - Winning BTB Stronghold does not count towards commendations, but Stronghold captures and defense does.

CTF - If the Flag carrier can use a one handed pistol, then using weapons such as grenades, or pp should not be a problem since the weapon can be used with one hand. I believe while the flag carrier should have their speed reduced by some degree, being unable to sprint make it harder to escape sprinting Spartans.

Playlist - Compared to previous Halo games, the playlist is light. A Team Objective Playlist or FFA Objective should be added, that includes Stronghold, CTF, and etc.

Power Weapons - Halo 5 have several power weapons but most stages tends to have a sniper rifle and/or a rocket launcher. I believe each stage should be different from other stages, like have Eden, Pegasus, Guillotine, The Rig, Coliseum, Empire, Plaza, have either both a sniper rifle and a rocket launcher or just a sniper rifle and either a railgun or plasma caster. Before Overgrowth, The Truth was the only stage with a sword and Regret was the only stage with Fuel Rod. Some stages could substitute the sniper rifle for a beam or binary rifle and the other power weapon with another power weapon. It should be noted that I am also trying to complete my commendation, which I have to play BTB or Warzone.

Map Variety - Maps in playlist are very common and typically have the same weapon.

Warzone glitches - Beside being spawned in a structure, which I have to kill myself, there are some glitches that should be fixed. One time on A.R.C. I was not even shooting at the Legendary Banshee Boss. I was defending a base from a Spartan. When I died, I got FULL CREDIT for killing the boss. The credit for who killed the boss also needs to be fixed. A person who takes the majority of the health off a boss should not be cheated from the credit, unless that person dies.

Join-In-Progress - JIP needs to be fixed. If a team is 1/3 or higher to winnings, that match should not allow anyone else to join. So in Team Slayer, if any team have 15+ (in Arena) or 30+ (in BTB) and it is not a close game, no one should have to join that match, its unfair to the joining player.

Quitting: If a team is severally outnumbered, like 3 vs 8+, no one should have to be punished for quitting, especially if the match is close to being over. I have been on both side of this. It not fun having to hunt down the remaining players until the clock hits zero or to hide from the full team. JIP does not help as most people will just idle or quit the game when they see the score and I do not blame them.

Misc: Theater Mode should be updated. It should record independently from Xbox One DVR as most of the time, the first couple of seconds are not 720p. If I did a Spartan Charge, Assassination, or pilot a vehicle, the camera would focus away from the player.

This list is just what I noticed during my sessions, and what I would like to be addressed.

The matchmaker in Arena playlists is totally broken, matching teams of 2 with either another team of 2 or 2 randoms against teams of 4 which never works out well, only teams of 3 or 4 should match other teams of 3 or 4. The team composition should also count for something, most of my friends are not as skilled as I am and are ranked in gold or platinum while I am onyx 1650 in arena which is where we play most of our games and i constantly match teams of diamond 4-6 or onyx 1500s when i go and search with another onyx 1650, and two gold 3s.

This could be fixed by applying something similar to giving each ranks a numerical value,

  • Bronze is a 1 - Silver is a 2 - Gold is a 3 - Platinum is a 4 - Diamond is a 5 - Onyx 1500-1600 is a 6 - Onyx 1601-1700 is a 7 - Onyx 1701-1800 is an 8 - Onyx 1900+ is a 9 - Champion is a 10When a team of multiple people searches in matchmaking the game could add up the values of each rank and divide by the number of people in the fireteam and then match versus other teams and players with a similar value.
    Of course ranks in other playlists could count for a small amount as well as your rank within the division.
