Halo 5 fans.

I’ve enjoyed halo games since the beginning. Halo 5 was no different. I’m just curious to see what the fans of halo 5 thought of this game. Thus far it’s kinda eh. The grapple shot is cool. The tips on the load screen do mention an evade. But it really just feels like very old familiar ground with the occasional spartan ability.

Infinite is definitely better.

I was and am severely disappointed. Without going into too much detail Infinite has taken a complete 180 from H5. Spartan Abilities brought a defensive component to Halo that wasn’t there in previous iterations and this brought balance to the game. Without these abilities you don’t feel like your playing a Spartan. Just a regular guy in a mechanical suit. Kinda like Ironman without the ability to fly. If they keep the changes and don’t have any plans to bring back Spartan abilities then I’m just done with Halo all together. I have been a Halo loyalist for nearly 20 years and have greatly enjoyed the progress that’s been made with each iteration. But this isn’t progress. Its regression. It kinda feels like a betrayal to be witnessing this and just hurts to say “I’m done”. :frowning:

I’m just a simpleton who sunk hours and hours into each game and enjoyed every single one.

You’d quit over just the lack of abilities? Or is it more than just that.

Lack of abilities is a pretty big deal if its something you really got into. I too enjoyed feeling like a spartan super soldier than just being told I’m one by the game A.I. the lack of abilities and theupped time to kill make this feel more like a futuristic call of duty. But I’m really trying to like this game. But I can only play like maybe 3 games then I turn it off and go back to 5

You sure you have played cod before? I dont remember cod having a ttk averaging over a second. I dont remember cod having equipment that interacts with players, vehicles, weapons and other equipment in unique ways, I dont remember cod having map spawns etc. Idk, this statement just irks me as it makes no real sense.

I enjoyed 5 for what it was. It wasnt a Halo game though. It was a good sci fi arena shooter. I enjoy infinite for being a good Halo game.

Well they’re bringing back Thruster movement from Halo 4 if that is any consolation to you. Though I disagree with you on the balance part and that you don’t feel like a Spartan. It’s for the best they did a 180, even if it wasn’t complete 180 from Halo 5. The game was divisive amongst the fanbase and to me, was being a trend chaser. It’s unfortunate that you don’t want play Infinite without “Enhanced Mobility” but 343i is trying to reach a middle ground with fans new and old and H5 mechanics are just too far from that.

Yea they have equipment in cod. And no the ttk isnt as quick but it’s a helluva lot quicker than any halo game before it. The AR is so powerful theres no point in picking anything up. Good luck getting a triple or an overkill against fully shielded opponents

i mean, ive gotten a few. The ttk on average is about 1 - 1.6 sec excluding power weapons. This is accounting for a live pvp environment in the context of solo duals. The AR currently has a bit too much range but is outshot by the br and commando in mid to long ranges. There is nothing wrong with players keeping the AR, its a sollid all around weapon but isnt king at any of the ranges. I personally like to keep the AR as a back up. Swap the sidekick for commando and or BR, if I miss a shot and its getting close range, switch the AR.

Anyway, no cod doesnt really have equipment. They have player abilities but not map pick up equipment (im not counting warzone cause thats a BR which isnt comparable to btb or arena)

So what’s the point of the sidekick then. And since this post is about halo 5 fans, at what point are you gonna comment on something that this game does or doesnt in respects to that games legacy. It has a solid player base 6 years later after the 4th game almost killed off online halo forever. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but it is to some.

Just wanted to reply to your comment about Halo 5 still having a loyal fan base. I’m actually that way but with Halo 4. I found the changes in Halo 5 to be insulting since I got used to armor abilities and loadouts. Reach and 4 we’re the best in the series IMO. But if I can deal with 5 taking a 180 from 4 then I think Halo 5 fans can deal with Infinite. Personally I like the direction of Infinite over 5. 5 was fun once in a while but the advanced mobility just got old quickly. At least equipment pickups are more interesting

I missed the Thrusters and the Magnum at first but think overall I prefer Infinite now.

The default controller settings needed some adjustments but once all deadzones were removed and sensitivity slightly increased I think it becomes the best feeling Halo in terms of gunplay.

I truly believe the thruster and stabilizers should have become standard (ground pound and Spartan charge deserve the boot), but whatever man. It’s still Halo. I can and do enjoy them both.

You do know that Halo 4 has always had more players than H5G at the same time in their respective life cycles, right? At least within the first two years of both games, before Halo 4 was replaced by its own port on the MCC. And I strongly doubt that H5G suddenly got a boost in players after the content updates stopped, when it was two years dead in the water during its heyday.

I think this is a solid balance. I did try to groud pound someone in Infinite flight . As soon as I jumped from above by habit, I thought “WTH am I doing” before dying:sunglasses:… weird I’ve never tried it in MCC. Guess it was the sprint/clamber triggering it.

As a self proclaimed Halo 5 lover (my favorite MP imo) Infinite is better if not just as fun in every way. Spartan Charge was a cheap way to get away with sprinting around like an idiot and ground pound way gimmicky. Have no problem with Thrusters being gone because the equipment we have now offers enough spice to the general flow of combat that it’s not big deal for it to be gone.

Playing Halo 5 whilst waiting for the Infinite servers to go online and it’s so much more interesting.

It’s rewarding in that I need to land those headshots and the game allows for some serious outplays.

I load up Infinite and I’m AR spraying all over the shop trading kills. If one, I repeat one, of those precision weapons spawn, on each side of the map, then sweet I get to play Halo again for a few minutes.

Not the best experience.

I love Halo 5. Happy they kept sprint and slide. Sad to see thrusters go. Delighted there is no charging. Fairly meh about hover and ground pound.

I’m enjoying Infinite so far.

Would like just a smidge more sprint speed. Just a titch.

Amazed at what some people are doing with the grapple and repulsor. One day that might be me

One day…

I’m excited to read so many people happy with Halo Infinite
