When Bungie put EXP Per-Playlist System in Halo 3, it gave Halo Players all new Reasons to keep playing and for players to comeback and start playing again.
343I: i would like you guys to consider adding a (VISIBLE in Game) EXP Per-Playlist System into Halo 5.
> Hate to say it but I have to say Nope. While I agree we need playlist rankings like CSR, xp should just go to the overall game rank.
With an EXP per playlist system it still can. You get a rank for overall EXP earned and for your 1-50 rank visible on the service record. Just when you enter a playlist it will show your EXP rank for that playlist on your nameplate.
An exp per playlist is something I really hope comes back, but an improved version. Not just a 1-50 rank, but something also involving total games. so someone can be a new player who has got to level 50 in a month or 2, and then there could be the player who has been at 50 and going down to 45 and back up to 50 for the last 6 months. just an idea

In Halo 3 to get EXP you had to win. 1 EXP for 1 win (except double EXP weekends). You would lose 1 EXP if you quit, which I think was the best part about that system.

Yea it was the best and very simple but it work really well. I hope 343 considers doing something similar…

Oh?
Okay then.
Exactly like Halo 3 then.
Thanks for correcting my mistake.
Keep your Halo 3 ranking system but split the Skill and EXP components apart.
Your skill rating would be calculated and be shown as a 1-50, 1-100, whatever.
You EXP would count towards a progression system much like Halo 4 and Reach’s, with assigned ranks rather than numbers, such as Sergeant, Colonel and General.
That way on your service record it would read something like ‘23 Captain’ or ‘49 Brigadier’.
As for the EXP itself, it should be calculated something like this.
FFA Slayer Games.
Baseline EXP for finishing the game, for example 20EXP
Extra EXP for where you placed in said game, lets say 7 for 1st, 6 for 2nd and so on.
So 1st place will score you a nice 27 while last will get you just 20. None for quitters.
Team Slayer Games.
Baseline EXP again, lets say 20EXP
An extra 5EXP for the winning team.
Extra EXP for where you scored across all the players, like 0-7 or 0-15 for BTB.
So, a player on the winning team who got the least amount of kills in the game will get 25EXP (20 for playing, 5 for winning).
A player on the loosing team, but happened to get the most kills in the game will get 27EXP (4v4) or 35EXP (8v8)
This kind of point allocation awards good players who unfortunately got paired with a rubbish team.
Team Objective Games
Lets use CTF as an example.
Everything ‘same as above’, but extra points would be given for stealing, carrying and planting the flag, lets say 1EXP for each.
The problem with this is that if you make the bonus for scoring the flag to high, players will start team killing to score themselves. But you need some incentive to go for the objective, otherwise you get people who will treat it like a slayer game.
XP = How you rank up - Only given to the WINNING TEAM
EXP = xp per playlist - Only Given to the WINNING TEAM
CR/Points = For Unlocking - armor - emblems - Stances - weapons if load outs come back - And stuff like that = You get cr for kills and Flag caps stuff like that win or loss
