I think it has the potential to be this again. Also now that they have HCS they don’t even need MLG, nor do I think they will go back to being partnered with MLG.

I heard that MLG already made a deal to bring Halo 5 back on the circuit? Most pro players are saying that at least. Is that information wrong?
Hey, even if it doesn’t go to MLG, a nice prize pool in HCS will attract pros to the game anyway…

We already know MLG will be partnering for something with the HCS. Most likely hosting tournaments for the HCS seasons.
I am hoping they pick it back up. Draft kings is now offering fantasy esports as well. Like a dream come true! No new if they will be supporting Halo 5 or any fps atm though.
I hope mlg picks it up again but why the heck didn’t they add in a LAN feature for the pros?? What if XBL goes down like it did during the H2A tourney??

Wasn’t that MCC though? It is always a possibility xbl could go wacky one day but ESL still host mkx tournaments through normal xbl match ups with no issues at all. Especially game like that where 1 frame of lag could be the round.

It was MCC. But XBL went down for about an hour and stalled the tourney.

And it wasn’t just one tourney, it was multiple.
MLG was exciting because it was back then, and it will be again. I was excited at the invitational earlier this year.
Saying right out of the gate they will be putting 1mil into h5 esports is huge. It will draw in the crowd by the masses!
Can’t wait. Halo really needs this! COD is soooooo stale

They’ve already paired up with MLG to bring back the upcoming million dollar H5 tourney.
Definitely, I’m stoked just like the rest of you guys. This is why I played Halo back then and why I’m returning to it now. I think 343 is going to see just how many of us have been sitting around waiting for something like this to happen. I’m bummed to see LAN not included - that’s really the only huge mistake I foresee as it makes local tournaments so much easier - especially internationally where people wont have dedicated servers. Allowing the game to grow at a fast rate with more tournaments in more areas…but I suppose that is trivial at this point. If MLG returns with Gamebattles’ latters that would be nice too. I like the idea of league play along with tourney play…helps teams practice more often and network with other teams. I’m sure like everyone else who played competitive Halo back in the day, I’ve been watching endless amounts of arena footage and actually like most aspects of the updated gameplay. Of course, we will have to wait and see how it works in real time when you get two skilled teams who know all the little niches and tricks of a map and how H5 actually functions at a very high competitive level once we all have our due practice in. But, like the rest of you, I am very hopeful for this game. Halo is the business, we all know that!
Also, can someone clarify if the current sniper build is as fluid as the H3 sniper? Seems to be a little slower on the recoil from the videos I’m watching or perhaps just most of the people making the videos aren’t pro level snipers? I am stoked to see more maps too. I really hope they design a map that plays like the Pit and Narrows. Not necessarily the same maps, but just the style of a larger area for competitive 4v4 play. I’m sure they did, we just haven’t seen it yet. Stoked!
I loved playing Competitively in Halo 3, then having Reach break everything was gum dropping because my team and I were just starting to climb the ladder, then all the hype ran out. Ever since then i’v been playing games on PC. But now that Halo 5 is coming out, and the hopes are high on this one, i’m going to pick up my Xbox One and start putting in the hours again. Hopefully leading to the revival of Halo in E-Sports, which if i’m guessing correctly, was one of the first games that brought a lot of attention to the the E-Sports community? No?

Because the Xbox One has trouble agreeing with LAN. From what I have been able to piece together, the Xbox One needs to be connected to Live anyway for system link to work. That and MLG seems to be moving towards online play after they finished with 360 LAN so the point is moot.

Also makes sense. I just wish it was there for smaller local tournaments and for people who play outside of the US. It really does make the game more competitive when it is able to grow internationally too.

I couldn’t agree more on that one! This is the only problem I see with getting Halo back into competitive mode!
