Halo 5 enemies

In Halo 5, will the main enemy be the Prometheans?

The simplest answer to your question would be: we don’t know yet.

shrugs

Yeah there really is no way of knowing yet.

If the Prometheans make a return, I hope they come with some upgraded AI and a lot better variety. Every Promethean encounter played out the same for me in Halo 4. Kill the dogs, kill the flyers, kill the big guys. Ad Infinitum. With the weapons being mostly slight variations on the classic pistol-rifle-shotty-sniper-rocket-nades that we’ve all grown accustomed to over the years, it didn’t feel like they added much to the mythos of Halo. All that and their teleporting meaning we saw no new vehicles from the Promethean enemies left me wanting in almost every way.

Where the Covenant always attacked in interesting ways and the Flood -true to their name- would attack in droves, Promethean encounters would end up being something I dreaded rather than became excited for.

But yeah, to fall in line with what others have said, no one really knows yet.

You killed the Crawlers first? Ballsy, I always went after the Watchers first myself

I think its safe to say we will fight covenant and promeathans. Maybe humans, and maybe flood.

I found that they were lacking in distinction. Battlewagons and Commanders are easy to spot but Lancers resemble normal Knights. Also, each of the Knight variations only possess one skill set (Battlewagons jump, Commanders explode, Lancers charge). But besides that, they mostly behaved the same.

There should be more things to distinguish them, without making them overpowered of course.

I still think the Knights should be able to wield Covenant weapons. Imagine a melee-focused Knight with its natural blade and an Energy Sword.

A melee-focused Knight would be a dream come true. You can glitch Knights to have no gun but they have the same melee patterns as any other Knight. Imagine how much more interesting Battlewagons would be without their Scattershots. Shotgun enemies can be pretty cheap and frustrating. The Scattershot in particular tended to be inconsistent.

To be honest I despised the Prometheans as enemies. I would much rather them not make a return in Halo 5 but I have a strong feeling that they will.

Probably.

I kinda feel sorry for the Promethean. They made the ultimate sacrifice to become the universe’s last hope against the flood (I’m talking about the Promethean warriors, not the composed humans). Same wit the Didact.

Whatever they are, I hope they give us something tougher than an Elite or Elite-analog. Halo’s enemy mix has grown stagnant with the same classes… and I found the Forerunner Knights and their ilk uninspired. Here’s hoping we get something truly original (Flood tank forms that are actually the size of tanks? Lekgolo that combine into something other than the Hunter?)

Me too.

It is for this reason that I love the knight lancers.

My thoughts exactly. I have been saying this for a while. The Prometheans are not fun to engage, and there’s really no strategy to kill them other than to shoot the Knights at as far a distance as possible. It was virtually impossible to kill the Promethean Knights in higher difficulty with any weapons that didn’t have range capabilities. Here’s a post I just made on a different forum. They need to come back because they are important from a story perspective, but the AI needs a total overhaul. They were not fun to engage in combat whatsoever. The only challenge they presented was the fact that the Knights were so OP at higher difficulties, you had to kill them from far distances or get owned.

Yeah, taking out their ability to regenerate was paramount!

I think it’s too much of speculation at this point.

Covies are a given with Halsey teaming up with Jul `mdama ( i may have misspelled that, don’t kill me…) but other enemies are just speculation, Diadact might make another appearance along with the flood (dying to see more of them) but all we can do is wait for the time being…unfortunately.
