Halo 5 ending similar to Halo 2 ending?

Hey guys, I’ve been thinking about this for a while now and I’d like to hear other opinions as well. Since Halo 5 is the second game of the reclaimer saga, do you think it’ll have a cliffhanger ending or hyped ending that should lead right into Halo 6? Knowing how Halo 2’s ending went, it could be possible to see this happen. However, I wouldn’t want it to. A cliffhanger ending would leave a lot of people wanting more, especially if you beat the campaign the day after Halo 5 is released ha. So what do you guys think?

It better not be like Halo 2’s ending. I will rage and not play campaign again for a long, long time if that happens. Halo 2’s ending was beyond frustrating.

I feel you on that. 343 will have us waiting another 3 or 4 years for the next title to come out. Waits 3 years in real time, only 30 minutes later in game time. That’s exactly how the wait for Halo 3 felt. Still worth the wait though in my opinion

Chief confirmed to be Snake: “Kept you waiting, huh?”

As much as I hated it, I fully expect it for Halo 5. With all of the parallels drawn to the first trilogy being made here in the forerunner saga, I can hardly see them not doing this for the ending to the second in the trilogy.

Hopefully not a cliffhanger. The way they ended H4 felt pretty good. You knew there was more to come, but the main events of the game felt kind of capped off. The Didact threat was neutralized, and the question of what would happen to a rampant Cortana was answered.

Halo 5 ending:

Master Chief ends up in life support because of a heart attack.

He literally came back less than three days later. And as of now, he’s more contained than anything. I wouldnt be surprised if it turns out he’s manipulating Chief with these Cortana hallucinations.

Well, I’d assume most people primarily play the games and didn’t bother with Escalation. So within the story of Halo 4’s Campaign, the Didact threat is neutralized.

And for God’s sake the stuff they did in Escalation with him felt oddly pointless. Instead of just saying he got composed at the end of H4, they killed off Black Team, made Didact come back for a bit, only to be defeated again and composed. They just should’ve composed him the first time in H4.

Very true, but at the time saving Earth from imminent danger was the main objective. I mean we all knew Didact couldn’t be dead from one measly grenade. He’s a forerunner for crying out loud. He’s bound to return from his “containment” soon though. I’m just looking forward to Jul’Mdama being a centered antagonist. I really would like to see an energy sword fight with him and the Arbiter. Fingers crossed Jul isn’t wasted within the first 3 levels of the game.

That ending was so lame, I hope that never happens again.

I personally would like to see Jul’ fleshed out a bit more in game before he gets killed off. He’s an interesting character, and his Spartan Ops representation didn’t do it a whole lot of Justice. But with Team Osiris and the Swords of Sanghelios coming after him, and the Prometheans out of his control, he is definitely in a position to be put on the chopping block. But we do need an organized Covenant enemy for the rest of the game, and for future Halo games. So either he’ll live to see another day because of that reason, or his role as leader will be filled by someone else. But introducing a new main Covie villain after Jul’ got such little good development would feel kind of wrong. But I don’t see how else they can kill him and have organized Covenant enemies. And even then, the Covenant Remnant seems pretty screwed anyway with or without Jul. Maybe they’ll pull a Halo 3 move on us. After Jul falls, maybe Brutes will fill the void and provide an organized enemy. But that feels a little too unlikely.

The only reason Halo 2 ended like it did was because Bungie was too ambitious with having a 2 sided story. Originally, the game was going to be twice as long (for full length human AND covenant stories), but Bungie had to cut a lot of it at the last second. Don’t have a source, but I definitely remember someone talking about this in an official vi-doc or something.

I’d be pretty pissed if that happened. Hell, I might not even buy Halo 6.

Oh who am I kidding, barring MCC-dwarfing technical issues there’s no way I wouldn’t get it.

I am expecting some sort of to be continued/cliff hanger but not one nearly as big as Halo 2’s.

I just hope they make this a great game, and I hope it will make us want Halo 6 more than anything. Bring back the H3 engine!!!

I feel like not expecting a cliffhanger in Halo 5 is asking too much, but that’s just me.

Oh dear god no, that would be a severe downgrade
