Hello everyone… sad, sad news. Halo 5 has dropped out of the top ten. Perhaps a wake up sign for 343. Also, please don’t say, well I can find a match or, who cares about numbers man just play the game or leave because you dare criticize 343. This first reason is a strange defense. Yes, I can also find a match somewhat quickly on Halo 3. However, thats not the issue. We can look back at Halo 3. 1.1 million players a YEAR after launch . A MILLION! Halo 5: drops out of top ten less than 3 months after release. But why do people say numbers don’t matter? They do. They show 1. how many people are playing, which is basically population, which represents popularity, and 2. How good is the game (for example gta v in top 3 even though its been out for 2 years now.)
But why do people on these forums defend a low population? The people on this forum amaze me. I mean, why would you be satisfied with a lower, no a LOWERING population? While you can find a match, would it not be better for Halo to have the number 1 spot instead of COD? A higher population would probably make 343 more pressured to do more work to satisfy more gamers. Also, why do people tell others to stop playing the Halo if they disagree with something. This has to be one of the strangest attitudes I’ve seen in gaming. When you say “stop playing” you basically encourage people to literally stop playing. When people complain about how hard it is for them to be good at the game, give them tips, not a “get out of here stop playing” response, and same applies to everytime someone gives their opinion on Halo 5.

It tracks activity over the last week. Halo 5 was in 9th place (ahead of Destiny and Ark) for the last few weeks but dropped to 11th a few days ago.
Ya it just seems as though people are not really into 343’s take on halo multiplayer.
I mean, I don’t care about population.
As you said, I can still find matches pretty much instantly. I don’t call that a strange defense. It’s more of me saying I don’t care if everyone else doesn’t like the game, as long as I can still play it and have fun, it’s all gravy.
You bring up GTAV. I don’t think that games online was good at all. Regardless of it’s population size. It was essentially a repetitive grind of rolling the same min maxed mission over and over again to get optimum cash flow while avoiding the griefing players at the same time. That wasn’t fun to me. I won’t bring up CoD since I have not and will not play the new one, but previous experiences with that franchise, especially the Treyarch side, have made it undesirable to me.
These are just my opinions though, everyone is entitled to their own. So please stop trying to tell people they shouldn’t like a game because other people don’t like it. I bet you think Apple products are the best in the world too.

Hasn’t this already happened a few hundred times now.
Halo will never be in the top ten for a variety of reasons even if it was the best game in the world it would be beat, the main reason seems to be that other games have much larger populations compared to what Halo currently has so it cant possibly be in the top ten because it cant overtake them.

I’m going to have to agree with Pie. Even though Pink Lady’s are delicious, I feel the need for more after I eat one. But with Honeycrisp, they hit the spot.
As for the population of Halo. I really see it being in this position rank for the rest of it’s life-cycle. It’s a Niche game, meaning it’s geared towards a smaller gaming population compared to the other FPSs on the market. Lets just hope it keeps the current population it has.

Never thought I’d hear Halo referred to as a niche series, though I guess that’s all down to how you define niche. I guess with how the genre has changed for better or for worse over the years, a slow, simple arena shooter-esque title qualifies.

It also has to do with less sales, which reflects the state of the franchise. I remember the days when Halo had no problem keeping a higher popular than every sports game. Now it can’t seem to do better than any of them.
Me not caring about population isn’t a bad defense OP. I don’t buy a game based off how many people play it, if it were so then many wouldn’t have bought h5 after h4s “pop loss after 6 months”. I buy and play it cuz it’s still halo to me, having a low pop doesn’t change that for me in any way possible. I could easily list good reasons why I’d be ok if there were only a few hundred players left as well as I’ve done it on other games. Losing population doesn’t make me think any less of the game if I enjoy it. As to you saying population determines how popular a game is, I’d argue yes and no. It helps having a large population but a game can still be successful without matching other online games. There’s many games with low ratings, population, extra ect that I enjoy that’s others don’t. So yes, screw the population or a games popularity as it means nothing to me so long as I myself like it.

You do realize the game was #1 the week it launched and slowly started to go down to where it’s at. So obviously the population is there, it’s just that the game fails big time in maintaining the population for obvious reasons
I can find a match, but I end up seeing the same players even if I back out of the lobby, and wait for them to go into a new match. At some point, I end up playing with them or against them LOL. Yeah uhmm we need more players.
