XBOX ONE GAME TO RELEASE ON OCTOBER 27, 2015. YOU MAY DOWNLOAD THE GAME FROM XBOX LIVE BEFORE THEN, BUT IT WILL NOT BE PLAYABLE UNTIL THE RELEASE DATE
Does this mean it will be available for playing come 12.01 am of that morning? I understand this might depend on time zones etc)
Trying to work out if I should book a day off work. lol!

Its available at 12:01 no matter what form of the game you get (physical or digital)
The game will be available at 12:01 AM EST, so if you live in a different time zone it will be available then.
EDIT: I will need to go back to the XBL store to verify, but I am positive that if you read the description of the digital pre-order, then it tells you when the game goes live. When I get back from work, I will re-edit this post to confirm or deny this.
EDIT 2: Confirmed. In US regions, Halo 5 Guardians digital edition will go live at 1201 EST. If you do not live in the US, check the XBL store’s description of Halo 5 to see when it goes live for you.

I was under the impression that the game will be playable (physical and digital) at midnight 27th October when that occurs in the timezonevyou happen to be in.

No, most of the digital copies become available for playing on midnight of EST, which means PST would be 9pm.
As long as there isn’t a day 1 patch that takes forever to install you should be able to play it right away.

More than likely there will be a patch day one, that finally allows you to access the game. You will autodownload all of it, then it’ll add that little bit of code that let’s you open it.
So according to Ninja Xig this mean people in the UK wont be able to play until 5 am… not too happy about this whole waiting thing.

Yes, 9 pm is the standard here (Seattle). And Midnight is the standard on east coast. Seems that has finally been ironed out for more or less all major releases (although the confusion was hilarious at times reading all the different interpretations).
I think I’m going to read reviews & forums this time before making the purchase. Like the 17 years past, I’m addicted to NBA 2k currently anyway. 343 has fooled me twice, not this time. I hope it’s working great and I’ll dive in the for fun if it is!
Is there any actual information out there or is this all experience / speculation? A link would be helpful, I’ve been looking but cannot find any solid info.

The really question is 12:01 PST or EST, I would imagine for the ENTIRE US it will be EST.

Hahaha no it’s not. Different regions may roll out release differently but in the US, the game is released at 12:01 EST, so I (being on the West Coast) will get it at 9:01 PST.

He is correct, so everyone on the WEST COAST, if you go digital you’ll be playing a few hours before your physical copy friends. Just sayin…

no, its midnight where you are. no matter what timezone its available at 12:01 Oct 27.
Digital downloads in the past have never worked that way. I started downloading MCC at 11:05PM CST, but it said it wasn’t available at 10:55PM CST.
Apparently the community is still trying to figure this one out. *grabs popcorn

It is 9 pm PST, midnight EST & 11 pm CST. In other words, it is available at ‘the same point in time’. I have tested this with every game I’ve played (best friend lives in PA now, I’m in WA state). I am 100% sure (Unless for any reason 343 does something ‘special’ like NBA 2k16 did this year where the game came out on Friday 9 PST for early tip off edition (instead of Tuesday) but that would be specifically announced if applicable).
