After experiencing the halo 5 beta, i must say that I definitely enjoyed it. However, I feel like it is a big rip off of Destiny for a few reasons.
1). Your lobby or party is now labeled as a “fire team”. This had never been done in a game until Destiny, and it does not feel like something that should be in Halo at all.
2). The little animation of the Spartans “showboating” in the beginning of a match. Again, something now really done in a video game until Destiny. Someone very strange to add into halo as well.
3).The main lobby background and theme style music is very similar to that of destiny. The lighting affects, colors, and music theme is now very similar.
Im no halo hater, but it feels kind of disappointing seen 343i rip iconic ideas from other video games and pasting them in a game like halo.
Wow might I say that this is a very big point to make.
First off, Fireteams have always been a factor in most games. the thing that 343i is doing is that they are not locking your party size to 3 players max.
second, Bungie fired the person that directed the music for destiny. And what music are you talking about because I did not hear any(little if that ) music inside halo 5 Beta.
third, the main level background? Just saying a planet that you are hovering over is anywhere close to a control center for the breakout map? It actually shows people working and observing how the spartans are doing.
And games have been doing it for years. Cod ripping off of Titanfall, Destiny failing to rip off to many games.
At less halo does not have an awful leveling system that is very heavy on RNJesus based.
The Halo 5 beta even copied the absence of a story.
On a more serious note, I don’t think those things are enough to declare the whole game a rip-off. The music thing seems like a good sign to me. Destiny’s music was composed by Marty O’Donnell, who did the music for the classic Halo games. If the Halo 5 beta’s music sounds similar, then I think we can expect the final game’s music to have that Halo feel we all know and love.

I am wondering what music everyone is talking about. Either my memory is awful or I was not paying that much attention to it in the beta because I was having so much fun with it :).
I agree with you. A lot of people take ideas form other games to increase cross over feel. Such as the default control for halo 5 would allow people to easily transition over from COD when that horse gets put down. But saying that halo 5 is a rip-off of destiny is something I just can not see. I would need like detailed information about it.
Yeah, man. And you forgot about the title Halo 5: Guardians. They never used a Subtitle in the numerical (and ODST but that doesn’t count because it needed it as it shared the same title) series since Combat Evolved (Which also shared the same title as Custom Edition)!
And don’t you forget that the Didact’s stylized pinball ship looked like the traveler’s!

Haha, I never really made The Traveler/Cryptum connection.
I did think The Fallen looked a little like Prometheans though…
There’s also sand in both trailers, a planet and the Sun or a sun/star. So they copied a lot from a lot of games! Wow, my goodness, you think lawyers would be on that! Hey good points OP, I can make some too, I’m being serious, I just did.

Woah bro, I don’t think it’s possible to get sued for depicting natural resources in a video game.
I think you might be jumping the magnum here buddy. Three very small details does not a rip-off make. I am positive that Halo 5 will not borrow any of the core elements that make Destiny, Destiny. This would include quests, classes, leveling, loot, raids, the barest of bones story, and a depressed sounding Peter Dinklage. Doing this would essentially change the genre of the game, and alienate everyone who hasn’t given up hope on 343.

Inorite. But there was another thread about that earlier anyways.
I mean, calling Halo 5 a rip-off is a huge boundary to leap. I for one do not feel that it is a rip-off. Destiny, in my opinion of course, is too unbalanced. Halo 5, even in BETA, was quite balanced and it had it’s own unique style. Those points really only had to do with the “pre-match” system. Gameplay wise, they feel a bit similar, but like most FPS, they will always have something similar between them in some way, shape and/or form

If the Mayas and Egyptians can create pyramids on two separate continents with zero contact with each other, I can see two different game developers having a similar openings. Coincidence happens.
