Halo 5 (Destined for Domination?)

Let’s face it, most of the games that have been coming out have been a disappointment. Watchdogs was way less impressive than its first E3 trailer. Titanfall was fun for a while, but it lacked game modes, customization, and a story. Destiny practically had no story, and the gameplay wasn’t much different than borderlands. Halo 5 has been delayed a year so we can play the beta, and give 343 some suggestions ( hopefully people don’t go in to overload with the stupidest complaints ). Last of all Halo 5 will have been in a 3 year development by the time it’s released. With the amount of time, and care, could Halo 5 be the Xbox Ones’s killer app? I’m super excited for Halo: the masterchief collection, and I eagerly anticipate the included Halo 5 beta access.

I believe Halo is entering another golden age. I can’t wait for the MCC and the Guardians beta.

> ( hopefully people don’t go in to overload with the stupidest complaints )

You already know that’s gonna happen.
Remember Reach…

Junky’s right, I do think Halo is up for another Golden Age. If done right it could also mean Xbox comes back to the top and kicks PS4 off of the throne it sits upon right now.

Were really at a crossroads for halo right now.

The Master Chief Collection will undoubtedly bring a lot of people back, but the success of Halo 5 is crucial to whether halo becomes a mainstream franchise again or continues slowly along the path to irrelevance.

I’d like to think it will be the first one, but we won’t really know until it comes out.

I think its time for some regicide pun pun pun

Heck yea it will!!

Yes I think Halo is going to be a top dog game again.

I’m trying to get #weback going with all the pro players on Twitter. I think it’s a thing now.

Boys.

We back.

#goldenage

I really hope that the Halo franchise comes back to its rightful place.

Halo 5 will be arguably the most important Halo ever for reasons already listed. Halo 5 needs to:

• Bring back core fans
• Bring in new fans
• Show the CoD generation how much fun an arena shooter can be, and thus gain the next generation of squeaky-voiced gamers (i.e. the next generation of gamers)
• Bring Halo back into the competitive spotlight
• SELL XBOX ONES
• Evolve the shooter genre as a whole, as has been the legacy of the franchise from 1-3 (<- This is huge.)

343i must understand the stakes here. Make a game that is simply “good”, and they’ll have exhausted the remaining goodwill of their fans who were put off by Halo Reach and 4. Make a great game, and they will have only achieved half of what they need to, and at best continue Halo as another “AAA” game franchise (which isn’t bad in itself). But if they make it incredible, if they make it a masterpiece like Halo 1 and 2 (and arguably 3), then they will have brought one of the biggest names in video game history back to being just that–an industry leader.

I wish Halo 5 could be as big a draw to the Xbox One as Halo CE was for Xbox, and Gears of War for the 360. But for that, nothing less than a masterpiece will do. Honestly, if they come out and say in September, 2015: “Hey guys. Listen, we have a great game here. But if you give us one more year, we will show you a game that will blow your minds. It’ll change the way you play games,” then I’d say, GIVE THEM THAT EXTRA YEAR. I’d rather wait four years and have the best Halo ever made than three and have just a really awesome Halo.

This all sounds pretentious as all get out, but it’s just my hopes as a fan  I’m probably going to be happy with H5 either way, but Halo was a franchise I grew up with. I remember the hype of CE and 2. It was amazing. If Halo could return to those glorious days . . .

This is really great post. Of course I wouldn’t be upset if Halo 5 just turned out to be a good game with a decent multiplayer mode; in fact that would mean so much to me after being let down with the recent direction of the franchise and I think it’ll redeem the series in the eyes of many gamers. But to be really outstanding, Halo will have to revolutionize gaming again and bring Arena shooters back into the spotlight.

It should take the younger generation away from games like Call of Duty and show them what a skill-based game really is. Although that shouldn’t be too hard since Call of Duty has been slowly killing itself and even it has been straying away from the tired modern-military shooter genre. With a new console and tech to drive it, I think Halo 5 has an amazing opportunity at bringing Halo back into the golden age that we saw between Halo 1-3.

I think it depends. They’re being geniuses about the way they’re building hype. You’ve got the MCC which has already hyped up everyone, including the classic fans. People are saying stuff like “CLASSIC HALO IS BACK!!!”

Then they’re hinting at Halo 5 returning to the roots of Halo, saying that armor abilities are gone and we’re back to equal starts. So that hyped everyone up.

And now we know they’re going to debut Halo 5 multiplayer on November 10th, the day when everyone’s hype is exploding through the roof. IF Halo 5 is what the fans have been asking for and is more like Halo 1-3, people are going to go insane.

I’m almost willing to bet the first map we’re going to see in action is Midship. That would be the icing on the cake to make everyone go insane over this game.

Halo has indeed re-entered superstardom.

Not yet. I only think it obtained a significant level of hype among hardcore games and older fans of the series. It’ll only have entered superstardon again after gaining a positive critical reception, accolades and a warm fan reaction. Halo 4 and Halo: Reach technically had the first two.

I hope Halo 5: Guardians and Doom 4 will make up for the influx of crappy multiplayer FPS, like Titanfall, Destiny, and the already existing COD/BF franchises. I mean, those games are good for some mindless fun here and there, but mindless fun gets boring after a while, and without a good competitive core to their multiplayer, these games really do not really hold up compared to the hardcore arena FPS. I really hope that the new Halo and Doom bring the even-playing field, fast-paced and strategic gameplay, and emphasis on map control into the realm of the Xbox One.

The 360 mostly failed in its library of games, as the only truly good FPS I know of on there is Halo 3 (Reach and sometimes Halo 4 are good for mindless fun, but again, mindless fun gets boring after a while), and for every non-shooter on the 360, the PS3 had it and then some. I really have hopes for Xbox to become this serious competition for the PC, but as it stands, Xbox doesn’t have the library of games to compare. It needs more, and I seriously hope the Xbox One will turn out better. If Halo 5 and Doom 4 do turn out to be these awesome games, it really shouldn’t end there. More games in those style should be released for the Xbox One. I know people are gonna rage because I’m criticizing the 360, but look, it may have Halo (Halo 2 being my 3rd favorite FPS), however the problem lies in that Halo shouldn’t be the only competitive FPS on the system. If there were more games like Halo on the console, the system as a whole would be wayyyy better.

H5 was never delayed just so you know.

Yes but even bringing up Halo in nerdy society will always spark reactions where as things like Watch Dogs and Destiny do not

Snap.

OT: We can already assume that Halo 5 will have much more content than other FPS’s. That reason alone will make it technically a better game. But it really comes down to how long we will play it for.

More like 1-3 less like reach and 4 = player base

That’s because the Halo series has already garnered world-wide acclaim and a big fan-base, whereas Destiny and Watchdogs haven’t been so successful as single games alone. That reaction is based off of Halo’s past legacy. There’s no way to be sure it’ll be so successful if it continues to the decline it’s been going through. Think about how quick players flocked to other games after playing Halo 5. If Halo 5 does that again, I doubt Halo will ever enter superstardom or anotehr golden age again under 343i’s tenure.
