Halo 5 delayed because of directx 12?

You guys remember at the GDC MS said that direct x 12 is coming out in 2015 for PC and X1 well it got me wondering what if they pulled halo 5 back so they can optimise it with directx 12 and get a better performance boost for the game. There is nothing wrong if it has been delayed and I have no problem with it, I was just wondering.

No, they needed at least 3 years to develop something as big as a Halo game (Like every Halo game).

I read somewhere that Frank O’Connor said that 343i knew they could;t finish Halo 5 in any less time than a three year cycle. I don’t think it has been delayed, they claim our Halo journey will start in 2014, but they never said it starts with Halo 5.

Also i have no idea what direct x 12 is.

They never said that they delayed it and we don’t know long they’ve been working on it. They might have started it in 2011, a lot of developers tend to start working on the next game while halfway through their current game.

I’m pretty sure Halo 5 was never delayed because of DX12 or delayed at all. I believe they just needed a 3-year-cycle to complete Halo 5.

Obs, didn’t mean, delayed. Just a 3 year old-cycle on the game, which is something that is needed for a successful good Halo-shooter.

I don’t know much about directx12 myself but I think it’s a program that helps draw more power out of a machine.

From what I understand it is a low-level API that will work ‘closer to the metal’ to squeeze out as much power as they can.

From what I hear it will double the set of tools/resources avaliable to the developers but will NOT double the power of the Xbone.

I am really ignorant on what DirectX truly is so…

That’s how long it takes bungie to make a halo game. The thing that has me confused is how it’s takes them 3 years to make a halo game and 4 years to make destiny.

Yeah I agree a three year dev cycle can definitely help but we don’t know when did 343 start developing it.

They have already told us 3 years is needed for Halo, and 3 years they will use.

Because it is Bungie’s first game in the franchise and first game that isn’t Halo in over a decade. I’m pretty sure they want to take their time and make sure it is great.

Announcing a release date later than what fans speculated does not a delay make.

Correct me if I’m wrong but, didn’t Frank O’Connor/Bungie request a 3-year development cycle as a demand for selling the IP to Microsoft? If that’s the case, 343i has at a minimum 3 years to complete the game.

Never heard that before, but if it’s true, kudos to Frankie & co for sticking to their guns. Still, I’m saddened that I have to wait 1.5 years Halo 5 because:

A) Unless H2A pulls out some major surprises, or something altogether new and awesome is released in the Halo universe, I don’t have any pressing reason to buy an XB1 over a PS4. H5 was my reason to buy the console, not a reskin of probably least favorite Halo title besides H4.

B) By the time Guardians is released I suspect real world responsibilities will allow only cursory gameplay, and by then I probably won’t be in the market for a console (if I haven’t already bought a PS4). Don’t grow old, kids, it’s not the kind of fun you’re accustomed to!
