Halo 5 Dedicated Server Setup

Halo 5 and every Halo game from here on end is in dire need of Titanfall’s Dedicated Server set up, Complete with Data Center List, Ping to each Data Center, and find games Exclusively for the choosen Data Center.

Halo 5 is good, but it is by no means good enough, and to get there, to ensure QUALITY in Matchmaking, you are going to need these Parameters.

It isn’t fair at all for anyone to pick up any connection advantage over anyone else because one person is searching for or has been matched in to a Server with players who are outside of the fair Ping Range from 0-65ms Ping. The death I get are so obvious from people who have a faster reaction time than me due to a Ping Advantage, it is even reinforeced in the killcam where I can be seen with my side exposed to the enemey, me sliding, all while shooting my gun at someone “in their killcam” I’m not even looking at.

That is clearly a Ping issue, and the Timing that is thrown off in this Ping issue is the same reason why the AR is such a Overpowered sack of crap gun. Because in my hands, Unshielded targets survive when I die, and in the killcam I’m shown with the details I mentioned uptop. My side towards my target, sliding feet and my gun firr coming out of thr side of my body.

If I was Exclusively connecting to my proper West US Data Center like in Titanfall my Ping would be at 39-43 and I wouldn’t be seeing Gamertags of people who are loyal to their state which connects to whole different data centers.

Before I came here to post this I partied up with some random I was matched up with and doing well with until he turned out to be from North Carolina (North Centeral US Data Center), I partied up with him, Got matched with some other dude on the enemy team with Carolina Deadeye as his name, and that’s when I was having the deaths I described.

I should not be matched up with those people at all! All are just signs of what I already know, this game isn’t finding games exclusive to my proper lowest/closest pinged Data Center.

Yep, I want dedicated servers or nothing at all.

MS should invest to ensure the dedis are always up.

Azure, Thunderbolt, call it whatever you want.

Just get it to work day 1.

For MS flagship games dedicated servers should be a no-brainer. Agree with all OP posted, these are all great feature that should make it into the final game and really should be staples for ALL future games.

The Halo5: Beta is completely on the Azure.

A check on Twitter will show that something similar to Titanfall, whereby one can choose their data centre, is being thought of for the final release.

Yes it is true that we are not always put on our closest data centre. Sometimes it’s a bug but most times it is the population vs CSR AND that a lot of parties are not really that close to each other.

Imagine a team made up of a New Yorker, a Californian, a Washington and an Albertan… Even if they pick the most evenly pinged centre to play, it’s not likely to feel “competitive” against the competition that may end up pulling from another continent altogether.

Believe-you-me, I’ve had games where we all said “Hey!!! That was way too fast and easy for them to counter!!!” and then the next game “Hey! Looks like we’ve got that server advantage thingy they need to iron out. Dude wasted half an SMG mag on me and I was able to turn and smoke them!”

And as someone well played in Titanfall, the games in TF are greatly influenced by the time of day. There are some games where you seem to die about a half second before you even saw the enemy and others where you can just run over anyone and everyone. That’s because the matchmaking doesn’t always allow for your best/chosen centre to be played on.
Play enough and you learn to use certain weapons/loadouts depending on the feel of the match and the experience balances out. But until you learn, it can be a frustrating experience.
