I saw a few weeks back people not being able to find the original source of halo 5 being a dark game.

"With regard to the story of “Halo 5: Guardians” specifically, one Twitter follower commented to O’Connor that he heard “Halo 5” would be the darkest “Halo” yet. In conformation of this assertion, the 343 project head said “yes, but you can always turn up the contrast and brightness.” The latter half of the tweet is obviously a joke, but it’s important to take note of the blatant affirmation that’s initially proffered.
Unlike past games in the “Halo” franchise, there’s a hint that the story of “Halo 5: Guardians” will be far more complex than a tale of intergalactic heroics. That much was already suggested by the new live-action story trailers. While Master Chief and Locke are technically tied to the same side of the series’ conflict, both advertisements showed that one Spartan was overtly willing to shoot, and possibly kill, the other.
A dark story was also teased for episode 3 of the “Hunt The Truth” audio logs as well. The SoundCloud recordings follow Benjamin Giraud as he digs into the lore behind the man that gamers know as Master Chief. Episode 2 was released a few days ago, but O’Connor recently teased that the “next episode of #huntthetruth goes to a dark place.”
Without spoiling plots for those that haven’t listened, in some ways the story has already taken a dark turn. Themes of death are already being uncovered behind a tale that at one time seemed rife with good deeds."

^This, you’ll notice it in some games unless your one of those people who don’t touch there options. A prime example is Minecraft, which I have super high gamma on so I can see well during the night phase of the game.
On topic: I think I’m glad about this, but Halo has never been a particularly happy go lucky game story wise(look at Reach).

Yeah true that man, but that was dark on a scale of how badly humanity was crippled by the covenant and grim tone in general, but i think halo 5 is implying it on a whole new level, if theyre saying darkest halo yet and reach was already dark, what could be darker than reach D:!? is chief gonna actually do somthing bad, not want to but HAVE to? for the greater good! i honestly dont know. but i dont see the USNC having much of an upper hand in this whole game.
I just want some details on the story and whether or not colonies suddenly being attacked are true…

They are true, its the official bio for halo 5 in this link. scroll down to “arriving on xbox on” part and read. If its on waypoint then its definitely happening D:

Darkest story I believe, we also find out more tomorrow with episode 3 of hunt the truth named EP -03 “hunt the truth”, saying that the dark tones from that set some partial setting for halo 5: G!
I miss the darker Waypoint too…
