I’ve always believed that halos custom games were a major feature of the game. I think that as long as halo 5 doesn’t have launch problems the only thing that will kill it is bad custom games. all of the halos have had them but halo 3 was when it started getting good all the game mode you could make thanks to forge and the options that was given to us. I mean yeah Matchmaking is fun and all but nothing beats sitting down with friends or even randoms and playing custom games. At the time I didn’t really think you could do any better but Bungie did with halo reach. Yeah a lot of people didn’t like reachs matchmaking because of the changes they made but you can not denied that out of all of the halos none of them have beaten halo reachs custom games. It is mostly the reason halo reach still has 20k+ players. I spent so many hours playing halo reachs customs game because their were so many options that it never got old I played all kind of fun,crazy, and competitive game modes. The only reason I’m not on my 360 now playing customs is because I don’t have the friend I had 2 years ago.
Then halo 4 came out and it focused so much on the matchmaking that It forgot about customs… I mean yeah they were okay but because of what they did to games like Infection it killed off a lot of the custom game options you had. I think Halo 4 would have lasted longer if the customs were better… Then theres halo MCC It could have been better then reach if it wasn’t so broken and if you could join lobbys without the host having to end that game and if it wasn’t for people getting randomly booted out and lets not forget File share how it took a year to get to H4 and by that time it was too late and it still has yet to come to MCC. Why does no one care or seem to understand that File Share is a major part of halo and of the halo community… Not everyone can forge so how are they gonna get good and fun maps to play with people if they have to look up a random persons name to find the game/map they wanna play and it may or may not be there in that persons file share.
Halo 5 could be the best halo yet If it has the best custom games yet… if halo 5 has good custom game options a File Browser at launch or soon after it will blow away all other FPSs coming out this year and next. Especially if it has a custom games browser. But i’m starting to worry because so far it seems 343 is only focusing on Matchmaking and i’m starting to think that forge isn’t going to be in game at launch with as little as we have seen of it.
