Your best bet is to have it delivered to a family member or something, then pick it up afterwards.
If you wait, it’ll probably be 1-200$ more on eBay, because you know how people are, opportunistic and want money.

You’ll be able to find one without too much trouble, I remember seeing the Reach edition Xbox360 in stores for a while afterwards. Not to mention eBay will have them +/- $50 or so dollars. Worst case you end up spending a little more, which should be no problem coming straight out of basic.
