Halo 5 currently

I uninstalled Halo 5 two months ago, with it being nearly 90GB and not nearly containing enough playlists, customization, and so on. I didn’t see the need for a game to take up that much space. My question is, have 343 added in more playlists and or at the very least fix the bugs within the REQs and theater?

343 have added a CE Throwback playlist, though I think it’s only temporary.

They’ve also released a maintenance update.

Said update did nothing.

Is that all they’ve done? So for the most part it’s the same game I left a while back?

I’m hoping that they’ll drop the new content update before Christmas.

I think the main purpose of that update was to “gather data”, once they’ve collected enough, they’ll be able to fix the main issues.

I know about the REQ’s that they are adding and it doesn’t matter how many micro-transactions in fact im almost certain that is why the game requires so much space. So in actuallity instead of bringing more people in they are turning us away. If H5 weights in at 100GB after this update i’ll be disappointed.

Halo 5 kinda suffers from bad upper management right now. Microsoft is more focused on the E-sports cash cow than on making a quality Halo game. I suspect that the poorly compressed files and the lack of diverse content is a result of Halo’s competitive side being prioritized above all else.

To be honest if they listen to the community they would already know whats wrong with the game. H4’s problem was the fact that it held CoD like qualities within the multiplayer.

I knew the game was rushed and and treated like trash but thats just sad. I know that the upper management is the reason why Halo 5 is trash. But the sad reality is if Halo does bad so does xbox.

I would imagine that their strategy is something like this:

See complaints about issues on forums, etc

Release an update to find the bugs/glitches

Fix or patch the discovered bugs and issues.

Similar to the military strategy of Finding, Fixing and Finishing the enemy.

I’d say that 343 are at the Finding stage, we may get some more details in the next CU.

You have that much faith in 343? I just can’t see them doing that. I see them releasing more REQ’s and treating this series as some form of cash cow.

I don’t want to come across as a 343 fanatic, I just believe that they should be given time to sort things out. (Yes, I understand a year is a long time, and I’m intrigued as to why their response has been so slow)

A few quotes from the CU I linked earlier:

The good news is that today’s small update will be hugely beneficial in helping to better understand these issues and develop appropriate fixes as the team focuses on improving the Halo 5 online experience.

Since launch, we’ve been carefully monitoring reports from our players on Waypoint and various online forums with regards to the overall quality of the Halo 5 online experience. With the help of the community we’ve been able to identify several bugs, such as “random disconnects” from the dedicated server that are being erroneously reported as explicit quits to our services, as well as the general perception that games are often ridden with “lag”, which can manifest in a number of different ways. There are also a number of reports of users appearing to successfully land melee attacks, but without the attack registering on the server and damaging the opponent.

Issues like these are extremely difficult for the team to reproduce back in the studio in an uncontrived manner, so in order to fix these issues we need to first gather as much information as possible from players experiencing these problems in the live game.

In this update, we’ve both added new telemetry events, as well as raised the priority of existing events in order to help track down and hopefully fix these issues.

And thanks to you, players, for reporting these issues and helping us gather critical datamining intel by playing Halo 5. I’ll be sure to stay in touch with the team and provide updates as they continue their investigation.

we already know what will come from this. there will be a statement along the lines of “we looked at all the data that was gathered by our last update and this is what we found. over a three week period Halo 5 players fired a total of 60million rounds. of those 60 million, 30 million were on target, and of those on target, 29.5million were registered correctly. thats an accuracy of over 99.9%! The maintanence update is meant to gather data to eventually address technical issues in a future update, nothing else.

Although I’m concerned that 343 may do exactly what you’ve described, until they actually do that, I’m hoping that they will do what they can and be honest about the results.

With the help of the community we’ve been able to identify several bugs, such as “random disconnects” from the dedicated server that are being erroneously reported as explicit quits to our services, as well as the general perception that games are often ridden with “lag”, which can manifest in a number of different ways. There are also a number of reports of users appearing to successfully land melee attacks, but without the attack registering on the server and damaging the opponent.**Issues like these are extremely difficult for the team to reproduce back in the studio in an uncontrived manner, so in order to fix these issues we need to first gather as much information as possible from players experiencing these problems in the live game. In this update, we’ve both added new telemetry events, as well as raised the priority of existing events in order to help track down and hopefully fix these issues.*And thanks to you, players, for reporting these issues and helping us gather critical datamining intel by playing Halo 5. I’ll be sure to stay in touch with the team and provide updates as they continue their investigation.

I’d imagine that 343 consider fixing bugs related to Arena a far higher priority than WZFF.

I’m disappointed with 343’s attempt at fixing WZFF, they appeared target only a few obscure bugs instead of fixing the obvious ones ( Covenant bizarrely dropping out of Phantoms).

However, because 343 is working on a purpose-built WZFF map, they may be more careful in ensuring that it is bug-free.

if that first part were true they would have fixed it before WZFF was even released (considering how long it took for WZFF to even be released in the first place)

343 only mentioned the melee registration issue after a thread was made on here about someone experiencing problems.

So they either weren’t aware themselves or they were hoping nobody would notice.

With regards to WZFF, I think the reason it was released so late was because the WZ maps they had at the time were built for WZ, not Firefight, so 343 had to “force” the maps to cope with Firefight which may be the cause for all the bugs.

I’d imagine the new WZFF map will be of a lot higher quality, as they would have had time to thoroughly test it.
