Halo 5 could be best MP game of all time IF

There is no bloom, no sprint, no loadouts, no armor abilities(I am all for equipment, even sprint and jet pack) however, make a player earn it by picking it up on the map like in Halo3 with the bubble and regeneration. Also, the br should win over the dmr except at long distances, make the dmr 5 shots to kil but much longer range and make the br, well, the br, 4 shots. So far, I am impressed with what 343 has done with halo MCC. However, if any of these guidelines get broken, h5 immediately stars dropping down the list, but if followed, it could be the GOAT. I would even be happy if they made several playlists, one with all these things and one without. Make no mistake about it, h5 is going to be one of the most important games of the Hal franchise, we can only hope they are doing the right things. They seed dedicated to doing that with the h5 beta coming out so early(excellent idea).

halo 5 is looking promising and if the mp beats h3 then its pretty much the the game that sells xbox all over again!!! but every person has their own opinion on the best mp.

i just hope the beta will be awesome!!

I agree. I love halo MP, I think this would make the best halo ever

Agreed with everything you said, halo 5 could the best one yet if they do it right.

They have to almost put everything optionnal, for example sprint could be turn off in the menu.

Yeah, I agree. Halo 3 was the best Halo Multi-player game I’ve ever played. I had so much fun playing it. Good old times.

GOAT?

I was hoping to see a new idea here, but oh well…

Having no loadouts whatsoever drastically reduces custom games’ options, as well as some conventional gametypes like Flood. They shouldn’t be in ‘Pro’ playlists, yes, but removing them completely is not a good idea.

I don’t like equipment. Simple as. Felt really cheap when you dropped it. More than once I have had to wait for a bubble shield to drop so that I could blow someone sky-high with a scorpion. More than once have I been out-BRing someone, only for them to drop a regenerator and win. It was too powerful for a panicked button-press.

  1. Agreed.

  2. Not even as a Custom Games option? Little bit one sided there…

  3. Actually, I disagree. Yes, There should be playlists with Equal Starts, BUT I also think there should be Playlists with the ability to choose your starting weapons. Also, What about Customs?

  4. They are gone anyway.

  5. Equipment was better than AA’s, But they still added a random factor. Just not as much as AA’s.

  6. So if I’m using a DMR at Mid-Range and I put down a BR user’s shields, He can just turn to me and kill me? :stuck_out_tongue:

All joking aside, The Rifles should all have Dominant ranges, BUT it should come down to skill. Example: The DMR would dominate long ranges, But have a slower ROF, Thus rendering it weaker against an AR in CQB. The BR Would sit inbetween them, But an AR user/DMR user could still gun them down if they knew what they were doing or got the first few shots in.

  1. These are not really guidelines, More just personal preference.

But yeah, On the whole, I do see what you’re saying. But I think there are better ways for 343 to go about these ideas, Rather than just lifting straight from previous titles.

In customs you should be able to turn anything on or off. I would even be okay with certain playlists having certain things and others no. For example, I know that some like sprint, so put in a game type or playlist that you can choose to play with sprint and loadouts and all that. I think having options is the best way to go. However, I listed all the stuff that I want as a playlist.

Well, we can’t really split the community like that… sprint seems to be an all-or-nothing thing. I agree with the custom options though.

Why do people keep saying this, reach had the best custom games of any halo and Sprint, so it’s just patently untrue.

I actually prefer loadouts.

Makes you:

  1. less dependant on map base weapons spawns.
  2. Changes it up so not everyone is the same.
Seriously. 2. I like going from one fight to another facing different weapon combos. Not everyone rushes for map spawns so you could just end up fighting 5 dudes with ARs.

As to armor abilites…Meh. A few of them I liked. Again it added something else to the game.

Simply offer ranked and social playlists, like H3 did. Put all the fun stuff in the social games. Let the game buyers decide which they prefer. I agree with you, no one should be forced to play one way.

So basically takes away the foundation of Halo’s arena MP

If 343 does halo the right way. Then yeah halo 5 will be a really good game

Look, I’m all for returning to a more classic multiplayer format too, but your thread basically states…

"Halo 5 could be the best MP game of all time if… It were the exact same as Halo 2 and 3; thus, not making it the best MP game of all time and a direct copy of an older game with new maps."

What Halo need more than anything is for it to feel fun and have that new exp that you haven’t had in any other Halo game. Like you can still have arena gameplay mode. But what halo need is a different mode in multiplayer were it can grow outside the box and become this awesome game. Were it feels sweet like a real war at the same time have that feel were it has a lot of campaign elements in there. I believe Halo can become that game again were everyone is playing on the Xbox.

I’m for sprint being in at about 80% of the current speed assuming all things else movement-wise stay the same; adjust as needed with other changes of course.

Now, Jetpack as a fifth powerup beside Overshield, Active Camo, Speed Boost and Damage Boost is something I rather like a lot. This would allow it to be map/gametype specific as a map spawn or Customs adjustable trait so it can be present where and only where it would make things better without it mucking up otherwise good maps by letting you bypass elevation-based chokepoints, map flow aspects and control zones.

As for Bloom, well… it’s always been there, behind the scenes. It’s just that in Reach and H4, you can physically see it in your reticule. The way Halo 4 handled it with it being present on some weapons in large ways (Automatics of all types, DMR, Pistol) to totally (or almost totally) absent from others (Beam Rifle, Binary Rifle, LightRifle, etc) is excellent to me and only needs be improved upon slightly.

Also, for anyone still out there that thinks the bloom on the UNSC Sniper effectively does nothing, note how much harder it is to line up that follow-up to a missed shot when your pointer is the size of a plate right after firing. It’s a little thing, but I love it.

To be honest, I would consider that good change and forward progress from where we are now, because it’s been two games and seven years since we’ve had a decent Halo game.

Only problem with 4 were AAs and PODs. Everything else like CLs and Sprint can stay…
