Hello Good Day, I’m Nara Oshima a Competitive Halo Player who’s been playing from the united states -Yoink!- Islands since Halo 3. I’ve had some major issues with my game, like being able to die and still walk around for about 20-60 seconds at time, or not even spawn into the game off the rip like it’s Halo 3/Reachs lag all over again. This has burn my chances with teams/teammates to get a shot to compete in the HCS. The biggest thing would be to move which I plan to do but I can’t move right this moment for a while which has made me sit out of all the open LANs that have presented themselves. So That’s a bigger killer on my soul and heart being the 12 year old kid now 20 years young who devoted his life to the game in every way shape and form. Now my question is what can I do to help myself avoid this lag? I’ve done everything on my end, I’ve harassed the living hell out of my internet providers for years, I’ve got them to do there job and on my end I’ve port forward the Xbox ports and also added them in QOS, I’ve prioritized my xbox over everything else in the house. Now Ping is something I don’t understand or know how to change to make it would to it’s best ability. So if you had any tips and tricks I could do to low my ping because I’m sure I’m around 100+ ping when playing the game. Any bit of information to help me better my chances in the scene and with a team would really help. I’ve devoted my life to this and I can handle failing but when that failure is out of my hands and its legit nothing I can do on my end man that -Yoink- crushes the spirit and soul. I refuse to give up even after all of that but won’t like its not something easy to deal with.
Some problems can’t be fixed. Ping is a measurement of latency; that is, how much time it takes for a signal to go from your console to whatever server is the destination. Higher ping means a longer travel time, which is bad in multiplayer gaming; if your ping is higher than everyone else’s, it could represent as lag in a game. Ping is directly tied to the distance a signal has to travel, so region plays a huge role. You can measure your ping with the following tools:
Ping & Packet loss (measure here, and note that you’ll need to update Flash Player and Java, and don’t use Chrome). Packet loss means how much of your signal actually makes it to the destination; you want 0% packet loss.
Latency with Microsoft Azure servers (probably where the Halo 5 servers are; you can check here, and you can also test up/down speeds to the Azure servers if you want). Halo 5 likely uses Microsoft Azure, so you can try to look up your ping with those specific servers based on your region.
I got 70 ping, 2 packet lost
The closest sever to me is Virginia mean while I’m like around Cuba, Caribbean sea area…
So I should take it my best bet to take myself where I want to be in eSports would be 100% to move.
I won’t say that moving is what is best, because it isn’t guaranteed to solve your problems. If eSports really is your passion, I would only suggest doing thorough investigation about what would be best for your pursuit of that passion.
Thanks, I’ll do that the best choice is to move stateside this island has -Yoinked!- me over once to many times. Now it’s a matter of the best situation living.
